On the global market, both the London and New York exchanges saw prices rise again on December 24.
On the London exchange, Robusta prices for March 2025 delivery increased slightly by $ 6 (equivalent to 0.12%), reaching $ 5,008/ton. Meanwhile, the May 2025 contract rose by $ 1 (equivalent to 0.02%), standing at $ 4,935/ton.
On the New York exchange, Arabica prices for March 2025 delivery climbed 2.25 cents (equivalent to 0.69%), reaching 327.25 cents/lb. The May 2025 contract saw a slight increase of 2.55 cents (equivalent to 0.8%), trading at 321.85 cents/lb.
Global coffee prices rose slightly on the London exchange due to the slower progress of the new harvest season in Vietnam, which runs from October 2024 to September 2025. The delay is attributed to prolonged unseasonal rain lasting until late November and early December.
Current crop yield forecasts range between $ 26–30 million bags. More detailed predictions will be released as the harvest progresses into the new year
However, Arabica price growth is somewhat restrained by the Brazilian Real, which fell by 1.7% on Monday, slightly recovering from a near-record low against the US dollar last Wednesday. A weaker Real encourages Brazilian coffee producers to increase sales.
Additionally, ICE-monitored Arabica stockpiles reached their highest level in two and a half years on December 23, totalling 990,395 bags. Meanwhile, Robusta stockpiles on the ICE exchange slightly decreased to 3,995 lots from 3,996 lots last Friday.
Thus, global coffee prices on December 24, 2024, rose slightly compared to the previous day.
