Globally, pepper prices on January 8 continued to rise in Indonesia.
Specifically, the price of Lampung black pepper in Indonesia increased by 0.15%, reaching $ 6,852/ton, while the price of Muntok white pepper rose by 0.14%, standing at $ 8,966/ton.
In Malaysia, Kuching ASTA black pepper was priced at $ 8,600/ton, while ASTA white pepper reached $ 10,900/ton.
In Brazil, ASTA 570 black pepper was trading at $6,325/ton.
Meanwhile, in Vietnam, export prices for black pepper were at $ 6,400/ton for the 500 g/l grade and $ 6,700/ton for the 550 g/l grade. White pepper for export was trading at $ 9,600/ton.
Pepper prices globally continued to rise in Indonesia but remained stable in other countries.
According to a report by Ptexim, black pepper prices increased last week from VND 152,000/kg to VND 153,000/kg, a rise of 0.66%, due to limited supply.
Additionally, demand from the Chinese market has been good, while the EU and the US are still in the holiday season for Christmas and New Year.
Meanwhile, the average export demand for pepper in the first quarter over the past five years, from 2020 to 2024, was 66,154 tons.
Thus, global pepper prices on January 8, 2025, showed a slight increase in Indonesia compared to the previous day.
In Vietnam, domestic pepper prices on January 8 saw significant increases compared to yesterday.
Specifically, in Dak Lak, prices rose by VND 1,500, reaching VND 150,500/kg;
In Dak Nông, the price rose by VND 1,000, reaching VND 151,000/kg;
In Gia Lai, pepper prices rose to VND 149,500/kg, an increase of VND 1,000;
Dong Nai traders are buying pepper at VND 150,000/kg, an increase of VND 2,000;
In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, prices increased by VND 1,000, reaching VND 150,000/kg;
Finally, Binh Phuoc traders are buying at VND 150,000/kg, an increase of VND 2,000.
Thus, domestic pepper prices on January 8, 2025, are trading around VND 148,000 - 150,000/kg.
