Today, the pepper market in Vietnam on January 3, 2025, recorded stability in most key regions, except for Gia Lai, which saw a slight increase of VND 500/kg compared to the previous trading session. Currently, domestic pepper prices range from VND 146,500 to VND 147,000/kg.

Specifically:

  • In Gia Lai: The price of pepper today increased by VND 500/kg, reaching VND 146,500/kg. This is the lowest price among the key provinces.
  • In Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, and Dong Nai: The price of pepper remained stable at the highest level of VND 147,000/kg.

Overall, domestic pepper prices remain high, supported by low stock levels and strong demand from major markets such as China, the US, and the EU. According to experts, the 2025 harvest is expected to be delayed by 1-2 months due to prolonged drought, which could continue to drive pepper prices higher in the coming period.

According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), the prices of black and white pepper in several countries are updated as follows:

  • Indonesia:
    • Lampung black pepper: $ 6,824/ton, down 0.48% (decrease of $ 33/ton).
    • Muntok white pepper: $ 8,929/ton, down 0.49% (decrease of $ 44/ton).
  • Malaysia:
    • ASTA black pepper: $ 8,500/ton, unchanged.
    • ASTA white pepper: $ 10,700/ton, unchanged.
  • Brazil:
    • ASTA 570 black pepper: $ 6,325/ton, unchanged.
  • Vietnam:
    • 500 g/l black pepper: $ 6,400/ton, unchanged.
    • 550 g/l black pepper: $ 6,700/ton, unchanged.
    • White pepper: $ 9,600/ton, unchanged.

Overall, global pepper prices remain high due to a decrease in global supply and increased demand. In particular, black pepper prices in major markets such as the United States have risen sharply over the past 5 years, reaching a peak in June 2024 at $ 8,693/ton.
