(VAN) Coffee prices on February 12, 2025, slightly decreased by 200 VND/kg domestically but remained at a record high, ranging from VND 129,800 to 130,800/kg.

Coffee prices on February 12 domestically

Domestic coffee prices today, February 12, slightly decreased compared to yesterday but remain at a record high recorded in the Central Highlands provinces. The average transaction price ranges from VND 129,800 to 130,800/kg, down VND 200/kg from the previous session.

Specifically, coffee prices in different localities are as follows:

  • Dak Lak: VND 130,800/kg (- VND 200/kg).
  • Dak Nong: VND 130,800/kg (- VND 200/kg).
  • Gia Lai: VND 130,800/kg (- VND 200/kg).
  • Lam Dong: VND 129,800/kg (- VND 200/kg).

This is the highest price ever recorded in the domestic market. According to experts, the main reason for this record price is the limited supply following the Lunar New Year holiday, along with farmers holding back sales in anticipation of higher prices. Additionally, rising demand from export companies amid fluctuating global coffee prices has also contributed to pushing domestic prices to record levels.

Coffee prices on February 12 globally

On the global market, coffee prices showed a slight decline after a strong rally, particularly for Arabica. However, prices remain high due to concerns over global supply.

Robusta coffee prices (London): Robusta prices on the London exchange saw a slight decrease of $ 18 – 35/ton compared to the previous session. Specifically:

  • March 2025 contract: $ 5,653/ton (-$ 18/ton, -0.32%).
  • May 2025 contract: $ 5,663/ton (-$ 34/ton, -0.6%).
  • July 2025 contract: $ 5,611/ton (-$ 35/ton).
  • September 2025 contract: $ 5,538/ton (- $ 35/ton).

Despite the decline, Robusta prices remain high due to supply constraints in major producing countries such as Vietnam and Brazil.

Arabica coffee prices (New York): Arabica prices on the New York exchange fell sharply after 13 consecutive sessions of gains. Specifically:

  • March 2025 contract: 413.45 cents/lb (-15.6 cents/lb, -3.64%).
  • May 2025 contract: 404.05 cents/lb (-17.05 cents/lb, -4%).

The main reason for the decline was profit-taking by speculators after Arabica prices hit record highs. However, prices remain elevated due to ongoing drought concerns in Brazil, the world's largest Arabica producer.

Global market outlook:

  • Robusta coffee: The downward trend in Robusta prices may persist in the short term due to selling pressure from Vietnam and forecasts of a sharp production increase in Brazil for the 2025-2026 crop year. According to projections, Brazil's Robusta production is expected to rise by 24.6%, reaching 23.3 million bags.
  • Arabica coffee: The price rally for Arabica is expected to continue due to tight supply in Brazil. However, investors should be cautious about potential price corrections as the market enters an overbought zone.
