(VAN) August 16, 2021, coffee prices continue to decrease in both the world and the domestic market. Meanwhile, pepper, rubber and rice prices are pretty stable compared to yesterday.

Coffee prices

In the world market, coffee prices today, August 16, are unchanged in two large exchanges.

After the latest session, the Robusta coffee futures price in ICE Futures Europe (London) exchange for September 2021 contracts is down by US$ 21 per ton at US$ 1,828 per ton and down by US$ 18 per ton at US$ 1,836 per ton for November 2021 contracts.

Likewise, the Arabica coffee futures price in ICE Futures US (New York) for September 2021 contracts is down by Cent 3.3 per pound at Cent 183.25 per pound and down by Cent 3.4 per pound at Cent 186.2 per pound for December 2021 contracts.

In the first months of 2021, due to the negative impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, Vietnam's Arabica coffee exports decreased sharply compared to the same period in 2020.

In the domestic market, coffee prices today, August 16, continue to decrease by VND 100 in Lam Dong province only compared to yesterday morning, in the range of VND 36,400-37,400 per kilogram.

Specifically, coffee prices today in Di Linh, Bao Loc, and Lam Ha districts of Lam Dong province are the same at VND 36,400 per kilogram, a VND 100 decrease.

In Dak Lak province, coffee prices are VND 37,300-37,400 per kilogram, unchanged compared to yesterday.

In Dak Nong, Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces, coffee is purchased at VND 37,200-37,300 per kilogram.

Pepper prices

In the world market, pepper prices today, August 16, at Kochi exchange (India), move sideways compared to the latest session, at INR 41,300 per quintal.

In the domestic market, pepper prices are stable in key provinces, ranging from VND 76,000-79,000 per kilogram.

Specifically, the pepper price in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces is at VND 77,500.

In Dong Nai province, the pepper price is VND 76,000 per kilogram.

The pepper price in Gia Lai province is VND 77,500 per kilogram.

The pepper price in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province keeps at the highest of VND 79,000, followed by the price at Binh Phuoc at VND 78,000 per kilogram.

In August 2021, pepper prices in the domestic market have increased sharply compared to the end of July 2021.

Pepper's export value in August reached US$ 95.13 million, down US$ 23.57 million, or 19.85% than the previous month, but increased by US$ 50.26 million, or 112.03% compared to the same period of last year. It is due to the record increase in pepper prices in July in the past 7 years.

Rubber prices

In the world market, rubber prices move sideways in exchanges compared to the latest session.

In Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM), the futures rubber price for August 2021 contracts is JPY 210.9 per kilogram, JPY 214.7 per kilogram for September 2021 contracts, and JPY 217.3 per kilogram for October 2021 contracts.

In Shanghai Commodity Futures Exchange (SHFE), the futures rubber price for August 2021 contracts is CNY 13,430 per ton, CNY 13,615 per ton for September 2021 contracts, and CNY 13,700 per ton for October 2021 contracts.

In the Asian market, rubber prices increased again due to improved demand in China, India, the US, and Europe based on the recovery of the global economy.

Meanwhile, the rubber supply is being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in major natural rubber-producing countries and the global disruption of the logistics industry.

In the domestic, rubber prices are stable compared to yesterday.

Fresh rubber latex prices in Binh Phuoc province range from VND 310-335 per TSC-DRC.

Phu Rieng Rubber One Member Limited Liability Company, Binh Phuoc province, publishes the fresh rubber latex price at VND 325 per TSC-DRC.

In Dak Lak province, the rubber latex price is VND 16,000-18,000 per kilogram, depending on the type.

Rice prices

Currently, in the Mekong Delta provinces, there is the fact that traders pay prices lower than they have deposited with farmers. For example, according to Mr. Tran Trong Nghia, a farmer in An Giang province, 5 days ago, traders deposited OM 5451 rice at VND 5,500 per kilogram, but when it is time to harvest, they only paid VND 5,300 per kilogram. The traders’ reason is that the factories are closed and the weather is not favorable.

In An Giang province, rice prices today, August 16, move sideways in most varieties compared to yesterday.

Specifically, the sticky paddy price is VND 4,200-4,300 per kilogram.

The OM 5451 paddy price is VND 5,100-5,300 per kilogram.

The fresh OM 18 paddy price is VND 5,900-6,100 VND per kilogram.

The fresh IR 50404 paddy price is VND 4,600-5,000 VND per kilogram.

The fresh OM 9582 paddy price is VND 5,000-5,100 per kilogram.

The fresh OM 6976 paddy price is VND 5,100-5,200 per kilogram, a VND 100 decrease.

The fresh Japanese paddy price is VND 7,500-7,600 per kilogram.

The fresh 8 fragrant paddy is VND 5,900-6,100 per kilogram.

In summary, forestry and agricultural commodity prices today, August 16, continue to decrease in the domestic coffee market, and move sideways in the domestic rubber, rice and pepper market.
