(VAN) Pepper prices on May 20, 2025, dropped by VND 1,000 only in Gia Lai, trading at VND 150,000 – 153,000/kg. Global pepper prices remained unchanged.

Pepper prices on May 20 globally

Globally, pepper prices on May 20 showed no new changes.

Specifically, the price of black pepper from Lampung (Indonesia) held steady at $ 7,301/ton, while white pepper from Muntok remained at $ 10,051/ton.

Malaysia’s Kuching ASTA black pepper was unchanged at $ 9,200/ton, and its white pepper ASTA remained at $ 11,900/ton.

In Brazil, black pepper ASTA 570 continued to trade at $ 6,800/ton.

In Vietnam, the export price of black pepper 500 g/l stood at $ 6,700/ton, 550 g/l at $6,800/ton, while white pepper was steady at $ 9,700/ton.

Global pepper prices remain flat. According to Indonesian media, spices have become a key element of the country’s agricultural identity and history.

Products such as pepper, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, and vanilla not only carry significant economic value but also hold great potential in boosting exports and improving farmers’ livelihoods.

In an effort to reinforce Indonesia’s position as a leading global spice producer, the government has actively promoted the structured development of key spice crops. By 2025, the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture has designated pepper as a core focus of its national spice development program.

Ir. Baginda Siagian, M.Si – Director of Annual and Perennial Crops under the Ministry of Agriculture – confirmed that pepper would be the centrepiece of Indonesia’s spice development strategy for 2025.

Similarly, the pepper price in Dak Nong today also holds at VND 153,000/kg.

The pepper price in Gia Lai today dropped by VND 1,000, trading at VND 150,000/kg.

Traders in Dong Nai are still purchasing pepper at VND 151,000/kg.

Pepper prices in Ba Ria - Vung Tau remain at VND 151,000/kg.

Traders in Binh Phuoc continue trading at VND 151,000/kg.

Pepper prices today in the domestic market only dropped VND 1,000 in Gia Lai, thereby pushing the product down to the VND 150,000/kg level.

Thus, domestic pepper prices on May 20, 2025, are trading around VND 150,000 – 153,000/kg.
