The price of raw Salanganes Nest decreased to 510 - 590 USD per kg

According to Kien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first 6 months of 2024, the production of salanganes nest harvested from bird's nest farms in this province is estimated at 13 tons, Currently, the whole province has 2,745 bird's nest farming facilities, with 3,076 bird attractors, the total floor area is about 846,000 m2, concentrated in Rach Gia City and Hon Dat and Kien Luong districts…

However, the salanganes nest consumption market is decreasing, the raw salanganes nests are only priced 510 - 590 USD/kg, compared to previous years at 710 - 790 USD/kg.

The reason bird's nest prices have decreased is due to increased output, while the supply in some countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand is quite abundant, it greatly affects the production and business of bird's nest farmers in Kien Giang province and some other provinces and cities. To officially export bird's nests to the Chinese market according to the protocol signed between the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Department of Customs of China, Kien Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has assigned the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine to proactively coordinate with the Department of Animal Health Region VII to conduct disease surveillance on bird nest farms and bird nest products.

Until now, 200 bird nest breeders in Kien Giang province have been conducted disease surveillance by the authorities, and the results were all negative for bird flu and Newcastle disease. 

Besides, the authorities guided and supported 4 bird's nest processing companies in the province to complete the registration process and documents with the Department of Animal Health and the General Department of Customs of China to review, evaluate and grant official export licenses.

However, up to now, China has not announced the schedule for inspection and appraisal of facilities, so it is not possible to export even though the facilities have ready raw materials and related documents.
