Vietnam has many foundations to form a bird's nest industry - Illustration
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that currently, the whole country has 42/63 provinces raising bird's nests with over 22 thousand bird's nest houses. Vietnam's bird's nest output is about 150 tons. Continuously since the beginning of the year until now, businesses have boosted export orders, as well as strengthened links and investments with people to develop swiftlet flocks.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, the Chairman of the Vietnam Livestock Association, acknowledged: "Swiftlet must be considered a livestock animal, complying with the regulations in the Law on Livestock. Raising them is not only considered farming but also controlling exploitation." Only then can we maintain and develop the system of bird's nest houses, and the bird's nest products must be standardized and regulated "Vietnam's national brand of bird's nest".
Vietnam has classified bird's nest as one of the special livestock products. Over the past 10 years, Vietnam has implemented many policies to promote the development of the bird's nest industry and the goal of reaching billion USD is not too far away.
In the near future, in addition to exported businesses, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will also provide technical training for farmers to ensure traceability, food hygiene and disease safety, and meet high market criteria. With the advantage of having bird nests in 42/63 provinces and cities, plus favorable natural conditions, Vietnam has many bases to form a bird's nest industry.
Following the success of exporting bird's nests to the Chinese market at the end of 2023, Hai Yen Nha Trang company has just had its first shipment arrive in the French market at the end of April 2024. This is also the first batch of bird's nests from Vietnam officially exported to the French market.
Official export shipments include: Nha Trang bird's nest; Nutritional Nest Jar and Nha Trang Bird's Nest Coffee. 100% of the products are customs cleared, meeting strict quality inspection standards of France in particular and the European market in general.
Ms. Tran Thanh Hai, the Director of Hai Yen Nha Trang Company shared: "We have worked for quite a long time with the French authorities to create an inspection framework for bird's nest products from the first stage until the goods arrive in France and are inspected as finished products."
After customs clearance, products of Hai Yen Nha Trang company were present at the International Fair "Foire de Paris", recently held in Paris from April 27 to May 8, 2024. This is one of the large-scale fairs in Europe.
