Pepper prices on January 9 globally

Globally, pepper prices on January 9 showed mixed trends.

Specifically, the price of black pepper from Lampung, Indonesia, slightly decreased by 0.2% to $ 6,838/ton, while white pepper from Muntok fell by 0.19% to $ 8,966/ton.

In Malaysia, Kuching black pepper (ASTA grade) was priced at $ 8,600/ton, and white pepper (ASTA grade) was at $10,900/ton.

For the Brazilian market, black pepper (ASTA 570 grade) traded at $ 6,350/ton, an increase of 0.39%.

In Vietnam, export prices for black pepper declined across the board, with the 500 g/l variety trading at $ 6,350/ton (down 0.79%), and the 550 g/l variety priced at $ 6,650/ton (down 0.75%). Similarly, white pepper export prices decreased by 0.52%, standing at $ 9,550/ton.

Global pepper prices showed mixed movements today, with a slight increase in Brazilian black pepper but declines in Indonesia and Vietnamese export peppers.

According to the IPC report, the global pepper market in the first week of 2025 showed a relatively positive response as no producing countries reported price drops.

In Indonesia, both domestic and international pepper prices remained stable during the week ending January 3, while pepper plants in the Lampung region have begun flowering.

Malaysia’s domestic pepper prices have remained stable since the end of last week, while export prices have continued to rise for three consecutive weeks.

In Sri Lanka, despite the Sri Lankan Rupee appreciating by 1% against the USD (293 LKR/USD), domestic pepper prices remained stable.

In Vietnam, domestic pepper prices increased last week, while export prices remained stable and unchanged.

In Brazil, Cambodia, and China, Brazilian black pepper prices rose in the first week of the year, whereas Chinese white pepper and Cambodian black pepper remained steady without any changes.

Thus, global pepper prices on January 9, 2025, showed mixed trends compared to yesterday.

In Vietnam, domestic pepper prices rose slightly in some regions compared to yesterday.

In Dak Lak, prices increased by VND 500, reaching VND 151,000/kg.

In Dak Nong, prices remained steady at VND 151,000/kg. In Gia Lai, prices rose by VND 500 to VND 150,000/kg.

In Dong Nai, pepper continued to trade at VND 150,000/kg.

In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, prices remained unchanged at VND 150,000/kg.

In Binh Phuoc, traders continued to buy at VND 150,000/kg.

Thus, as of January 9, 2025, domestic pepper prices are trading around VND 150,000 - 151,000/kg.
