Many experts believe that pepper is in a new price increase cycle, so pepper exports are expected to remain favorable in the near future. However, Vietnamese pepper is also facing significant challenges.

First, climate change, causing increasingly unpredictable weather, is a major challenge for farmers as it raises costs for irrigation and pest control to increase yield. Climate change also exacerbates pest problems on pepper plants (such as quick wilt disease, nematodes, and leaf wilt diseases).

Additionally, regulations on pesticide residues and environmental standards in major markets have put pressure on the pepper industry to adjust farming methods and production processes.

Thus, domestic pepper prices on December 9, 2024, are trading around VND 146,000 - 147,200/kg.
