Pepper prices on December 5 globally

At the close of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at $ 6,660/ton; Brazil ASTA 570 black pepper was priced at $ 6,225/ton, up by $ 75/ton; Kuching (Malaysia) ASTA black pepper was priced at $ 8,300/ton.

Muntok white pepper was priced at $ 9,090/ton, down by 0.28%; Malaysia ASTA white pepper was listed at $ 10,500/ton.

Vietnam black pepper was traded at $ 6,200/ton for the 500 g/l variety; the 550 g/l variety was priced at $ 6,500/ton; white pepper was priced at $ 9,300/ton, down by $ 100/ton.

The International Pepper Community assessed that the market in the last week of November showed mixed reactions, with only Indian pepper prices recording a decline.

Specifically, both domestic and export prices of Indian pepper continued to decline in the previous week. In the same region, domestic pepper prices in Sri Lanka remained stable.

After two weeks of decline, domestic pepper prices in Malaysia increased last week, while export prices remained stable with no changes.

Only domestic black pepper prices in Vietnam increased in the past week, while prices of other varieties remained stable.

Brazilian black pepper prices increased in the last week, while black pepper prices in Cambodia and white pepper prices in China remained stable without changes.

Pepper prices on December 5 domestically

According to reports, today's domestic pepper prices ranged from VND 140,000 to VND 141,000/kg in key regions, continuing to decrease by VND 500 to VND 2,000/kg compared to yesterday.

In key growing regions on December 5, pepper prices continued to decrease sharply by VND 500 to VND 2,000/kg, marking the deepest drop in the past month. The national average price has dropped to only VND 140,600/kg, down VND 1,200/kg compared to yesterday.

In Binh Phuoc, traders are buying at VND 140,000/kg, the largest drop of VND 2,000/kg. The Central Highlands provinces such as Dak Lak and Dak Nong also saw significant declines, now standing at VND 141,000/kg, down by VND 1,000 and VND 1,500/kg respectively.

According to the VPSA, in the last two months of 2024, Vietnam is expected to export 50,000 tons of pepper, generating approximately $ 300 million. However, experts advise businesses and farmers to be cautious due to the unpredictable fluctuations of the market.
