Accordingly, the price of Lampung black pepper in Indonesia decreased by 0.2%; at $3,565/ton. And the price of this country's Muntok white pepper decreased by 0.22%; at $6,043/ton.

World pepper prices today are falling slightly in Indonesia and there is no new change in other export markets.

According to the April 2023 report of Nedspice Group, in the pepper market in Vietnam and other countries, there are no new planting areas in recent years.

The reason comes from the fact that farmers are shifting to other crops for better income. This makes global pepper production continue to fall below demand, and inventories in exporting countries in the region also decrease.

In Indonesia, farmers in this country are turning to palm, rubber, and coffee. And this leads to a decrease in their pepper production and it is estimated that the crop in Bangka and Lampung may decrease by 10-15%/year.

Thus, pepper price today May 13, 2023 in the world market decreased slightly in Indonesia compared to yesterday.
