Mrs. Hoang Thi Thuy Ha, Vice Chairwoman of Thanh Ha District People's Committee (Hai Duong), said that the batch of lychees was successfully exported by air to Australia by Red Dragon Production, Trade and Services Co., Ltd. The goods were displayed for sale on Market Place supermarket shelves on the morning of May 21.

Each kilogram of lychee is listed at AUD 34.99 per kilogram (equivalent to VND 594,000). This is a high price four times higher than the egg-shaped lychees sold in Vietnam and an increase of about 15-20% over the same period last year.

Mr. Mai Xuan Thin - Director of Red Dragon Production Trading Service Co., Ltd., said these are egg-shaped lychees purchased in some gardens in Ha Dong (Thanh Ha district). Products meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, uniform fruit, and outstanding quality. "We exported one ton of the first batch by air and will irradiate the second batch tomorrow." Mr. Thin said.

According to Mr. Thin, in addition to exporting by air, the company will export more by sea in the near future. Expected to export about 6-10 containers of lychees by sea.

Thanh Ha District People's Committee statistics show that this year's lychees output reached about 22,000 tons of fruit, only 50% of that in 2023.

Mrs. Ha said lychee output has decreased, but quality has improved. The export price of lychees is forecasted to be 10-20% higher than usual every year. This year, Thanh Ha district has 48 lychee production unit codes, and 167 codes are eligible for export. The whole district has 48 codes exported to China, 39 codes to Australia, 38 to the US market, 34 to Japan, and 8 to Thailand. In addition, the whole district has 12 packaging facilities with 21 licensed export packaging facility codes.

In addition to the Australian market, in early May, after field trips to lychee gardens in the district, businesses raised the issue of bringing lychees to France, Thailand, Singapore, Canada...

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thanh Ha district, the district currently has about 3,200 hectares of lychees. The early lychee area is about 1,700 hectares concentrated in the communes of Ha Dong area, the rest is main lychee in the communes of Ha Nam area of the district.

Egg-shaped lychees in Thanh Ha district are fragrant, delicious, sweet, and thicker than others and are mainly exported to foreign markets.
