Forecast for 2024, Bac Giang will reach 100,000 tons of lychees

(VAN) This year's lychee season is considered by Bac Giang province to have the highest quality ever, with output forecast to reach 100,000 tons.

On May 8, the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Giang province coordinated with the Asia-Africa Market Department, Trade Promotion Department, and Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) to organize an online trade conference with the Department of Trade and Authorities of Yunnan province, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China on lychee consumption in 2024.

According to the Director of Bac Giang Department of Industry and Trade Tran Quang Tan, the province maintains and strictly controls 223 area codes for growing lychee for export, with an area of about 17,198 hectares. Of these, the Chinese market has 130 production unit codes and an area of 16,217 hectares. 39 establishments are packaging fresh lychees for export that are qualified according to the regulations of China.

To prepare for export in the new lychee season, all levels, sectors, and localities of Bac Giang have been proactive and ready and created the most favorable conditions to support people and businesses and traders in and abroad for harvesting and consumption. However, there are still difficulties due to high logistics fees, congestion at Tan Thanh International Border Gate (Lang Son province) and Kim Thanh (Lao Cai province), and limited processed lychee output...

Therefore, Mr. Tran Quang Tan requested that Chinese authorities support the organization of many activities to enhance cooperation in economics and trade; create conditions and share information about new regulations and policies on import and export in general and agricultural products in particular...

In addition, the province requests that units under the Ministry of Industry and Trade continue to pay attention and connect Chinese traders and businesses operating in the field of import and export of agricultural products to Bac Giang to survey, purchase, and consume lychees and support the promotion of Bac Giang lychees to many Chinese consumers.

According to Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam O Quoc Quyen, the Chinese Embassy in Vietnam is willing to continue to cooperate closely with Bac Giang province, departments, branches and agencies of Vietnam to bringing Bac Giang lychees to the Chinese market promptly and conveniently.

After the conference, the People's Committee of Bac Giang province will direct departments, branches, and localities to concretize and drastically implement each group of issues, such as High focus on production, improving the quality of lychees, Implementing synchronous solutions to support lychee export; Resolve difficulties and problems of traders and businesses in purchasing, consuming, and exporting lychees...
