Agroforestry commodities’ price, August 24: Pepper turns to decrease while coffee increases

(VAN) August 24, 2021, after many days of moving sideways, pepper prices drop by VND 500 per kilogram. Conversely, coffee prices go up by VND 400-500 per kilogram.

Forestry and agricultural commodity prices today, August 24, keep unchanged in the world pepper market, but increase in the world coffee and rubber market.

In the world market, coffee prices today, August 24, simultaneously increase in two large exchanges.

After the latest session, the Robusta coffee futures price in ICE Futures Europe (London) exchange for September 2021 contracts is up by US$ 31 per ton at US$ 1,893 per ton and up by US$ 30 per ton at US$ 1,912 per ton for November 2021 contracts.

Likewise, the Arabica coffee futures price in ICE Futures US (New York) for September 2021 contracts is up by Cent 1.7 per pound at Cent 179.95 per pound and up by Cent 0.35 per pound at Cent 181.85 per pound for December 2021 contracts.

The Robusta coffee price hits the highest level in three weeks. The reason is that the coffee supply from Vietnam and Southeast Asia is being interrupted because of Covid-19.

In the domestic market, coffee prices today, August 24, increase by VND 400-500 per kilogram in most key provinces.

Specifically, coffee prices today in Di Linh, Bao Loc, and Lam Ha districts of Lam Dong province is VND 37,800 per kilogram, increasing by VND 400.

In Dak Lak province, coffee prices are VND 38,600-38,700 per kilogram, increasing by VND 400.

In Dak Nong, Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces, coffee is purchased at VND 38,500-38,600 per kilogram, increasing by VND 400.

In the world market, pepper prices today, August 24, at Kochi exchange (India), keep unchanged compared to the latest session, at INR 41,300 per quintal.

The cross rate of Vietnam Dong to Indian Rupee (INR) from August 19 to August 25, 2021, applied by the State Bank for export and import tax calculation, is VND 311.47/INR.

According to the report of the General Department of Customs, exports in the first half of August 2021 reached 8,449 tonnes of pepper of all kinds, with a turnover of US$ 31.56 million.

In the domestic market, pepper prices go down by VND 500 per kilogram in key provinces, ranging from VND 76,000-79,000 per kilogram.

Specifically, the pepper price in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces is at VND 77,000 per kilogram, decreasing by VND 500.

In Dong Nai and Gia Lai provinces, the pepper price is VND 76,000 per kilogram, decreasing by VND 500.

The pepper price in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province keeps at the highest of VND 79,500

The pepper price in Binh Phuoc province is VND 78,000 per kilogram, decreasing by VND 500.

In the world market, rubber prices turn to increase in exchanges compared to the latest session.

In Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM), the futures rubber price for August 2421 contracts is up by JPY 2.5 at JPY 203.5 per kilogram, up by JPY 1.6 at JPY 206.0 per kilogram for September 2021 contracts, and up by JPY 2.7 at JPY 209.4 per kilogram for October 2021 contracts.

In Shanghai Commodity Futures Exchange (SHFE), the futures rubber price for August 2421 contracts is down by CNY 40 at CNY 13,250 per ton, up by CNY 85 at CNY 13,355 per ton for September 2021 contracts, and up by CNY 80 at CNY 13,425 per ton for October 2021 contracts.

In the domestic, rubber prices are stable compared to yesterday.

Fresh rubber latex prices in Binh Phuoc province range from VND 310-315 per TSC-DRC.

Phu Rieng Rubber One Member Limited Liability Company, Binh Phuoc province, publishes the fresh rubber latex price at VND 325 per TSC-DRC.

In Dak Lak province, the rubber latex price is VND 16,000-18,000 per kilogram, depending on the type.

Rice prices

The social distancing in 19 southern provinces has caused many difficulties in Vietnam's rice consumption, processing, and export. Specifically, in this summer-autumn crop, there are shortages of rice harvesters, rice collectors, and laborers to transport rice. The rice boats also cannot move among provinces fluently as previously.

In An Giang province, rice prices today, August 24, keep stable compared to yesterday.

Specifically, the sticky paddy price is VND 4,200-4,400 per kilogram.

The OM 5451 paddy price is VND 5,000-5,200 per kilogram.

The fresh OM 18 paddy price is VND 5,500-5,800 VND per kilogram.

The fresh IR 50404 paddy price is VND 4,500-4,700 VND per kilogram.

The fresh OM 9582 paddy price is VND 4,600-4,800 per kilogram.

The fresh OM 6976 paddy price is VND 5,100-5,300 per kilogram.

The fresh Japanese paddy price is VND 7,500-7,600 per kilogram.

The fresh 8 fragrant paddy is VND 5,700-5,800 per kilogram.

The prolonged Covid-19 also caused many difficulties for rice exporting enterprises. The export price of 5% broken rice has fallen to US$ 385 per tonnes. This is the lowest level in the past year.

In summary, forestry and agricultural commodity prices today, August 24, increase in the domestic coffee market, decrease in the pepper market, and move sideways in the domestic rice and rubber market.
