(VAN) August 21, 2021, coffee prices turn to increase by VND 200-300 per kilogram but pepper prices continue to move sideways. Meanwhile, rubber prices decrease sharply in the world market.

In the world market, coffee prices today, August 21, turn to increase in two large exchanges.

After the latest session, the Robusta coffee futures price in ICE Futures Europe (London) exchange for September 2021 contracts is up by US$ 19 per ton at US$ 1,862 per ton and up by US$ 19 per ton at US$ 1,882 per ton for November 2021 contracts.

Likewise, the Arabica coffee futures price in ICE Futures US (New York) for September 2021 contracts is up by Cent 0.05 per pound at Cent 178.25 per pound and up by Cent 0.2 per pound at Cent 181.5 per pound for December 2021 contracts.

In the domestic market, coffee prices today, August 21, are up by VND 200-300 in most key provinces compared to yesterday morning, in the range of VND 37,000-37,900 per kilogram.

Specifically, coffee prices today in Di Linh, Bao Loc, and Lam Ha districts of Lam Dong province is VND 37,200 per kilogram, a VND 200 increase.

In Dak Lak province, coffee prices are VND 38,100-38,200 per kilogram, a VND 300 increase.

In Dak Nong, Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces, coffee is purchased at VND 37,900-38,100 per kilogram, a VND 300 increase.

In the world market, pepper prices today, August 21, at Kochi exchange (India), keep unchanged compared to the latest session, at INR 41,300 per quintal.

The cross rate of Vietnam Dong to Indian Rupee (INR) from August 19 to August 25, 2021, applied by the State Bank for export and import tax calculation, is VND 311.47/INR.

In the domestic market, pepper prices keep stable in key provinces, ranging from VND 76,500-79,500 per kilogram.

Specifically, the pepper price in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces is at VND 77,500 per kilogram.

In Dong Nai and Gia Lai provinces, the pepper price is VND 76,500 per kilogram.

The pepper price in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province keeps at the highest of VND 79,500, followed by the price at Binh Phuoc at VND 78,500 per kilogram.

According to the General Department of Customs, pepper exports in the first half of August 2121 reached 8,449 tonnes of pepper, with a total turnover of US$ 31.56 million. As a result, exports in the first 7.5 months in 2021 reached 188,659 tonnes, down by 2.20% in volume but up by 47.99% in value over the same period last year.

In the world market, rubber prices decrease sharply in exchanges compared to the latest session.

In Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM), the futures rubber price for August 2121 contracts is down by JPY 12.5 at JPY 201.0 per kilogram, down by JPY 11.7 at JPY 204.4 per kilogram for September 2021 contracts, and down by JPY 12.8 at JPY 206.7 per kilogram for October 2021 contracts.

In Shanghai Commodity Futures Exchange (SHFE), the futures rubber price for August 2121 contracts is down by CNY 40 at CNY 13,250 per ton, down by CNY 45 at CNY 13,320 per ton for September 2021 contracts, and down by CNY 60 at CNY 13,345 per ton for October 2021 contracts.

Rubber prices on the Japanese market dropped as the world's third-largest economy recorded a rapid increase in the number of Covid-19 infections—this suppressed activity and demand for industrial commodities such as rubber.

In the domestic, rubber prices are stable compared to yesterday.

Fresh rubber latex prices in Binh Phuoc province range from VND 310-315 per TSC-DRC.

Phu Rieng Rubber One Member Limited Liability Company, Binh Phuoc province, publishes the fresh rubber latex price at VND 325 per TSC-DRC.

In Dak Lak province, the rubber latex price is VND 16,000-18,000 per kilogram, depending on the type.

Since localities imposed traveling restrictions from 6 pm to 6 am, rice transportation has been affected. Once the rice was stored on boats or cargoes overnight, its quality was partly reduced.

To plants or storehouses with COVID-19 infections detected, the health authority imposed a 14-day lockdown which, consequently, disrupted production chains.

The transportation of processed rice from plants to ports for export also faces difficulties because of the shortage of drivers and porters.

In An Giang province, rice prices today, August 21, keep stable compared to yesterday, excluding the fresh OM 9582 paddy.

Specifically, the sticky paddy price is VND 4,200-4,400 per kilogram.

The OM 5451 paddy price is VND 5,000-5,200 per kilogram.

The fresh OM 18 paddy price is VND 5,500-5,800 VND per kilogram, a sudden VND 200 decrease after rosing VND 100 per kilogram.

The fresh IR 50404 paddy price is VND 4,500-4,700 VND per kilogram.

The fresh OM 9582 paddy price is VND 4,600-4,800 per kilogram, decreasing by VND 200.

The fresh OM 6976 paddy price is VND 5,100-5,300 per kilogram.

The fresh Japanese paddy price is VND 7,500-7,600 per kilogram.

The fresh 8 fragrant paddy is VND 5,700-5,800 per kilogram.

In summary, forestry and agricultural commodity prices today, August 21, increase in the domestic coffee market, and move sideways in the domestic rice, pepper and rubber market.
