Pepper prices on January 10 globally

Globally, pepper prices on January 10 saw significant increases in Malaysia.

Specifically, the price of black pepper from Lampung, Indonesia, remained at $ 6,838/ton, while white pepper from Muntok held steady at $ 8,966/ton.

Kuching ASTA black pepper in Malaysia rose to $ 8,700/ton (up 1.15%), and ASTA white pepper increased to $ 11,100/ton (up 1.8%).

In Brazil, ASTA 570 black pepper prices were trading at $ 6,350/ton.

In Vietnam, export prices for black pepper dropped, with the 500 g/l variety trading at $ 6,350/ton and the 550 g/l variety at $ 6,650/ton. Similarly, white pepper export prices stood at $ 9,550/ton.

Global pepper prices saw a significant increase in Malaysia but remained steady in other countries.

Currently, Brazil is the second-largest producer and exporter of black pepper, accounting for 17–18% of global supply. However, Brazil’s pepper exports for the 2024 season sharply declined, marking a three-year consecutive drop due to low production affected by El Niño.

For the year 2024, Brazil’s pepper exports totaled 61,665 tons, a sharp decrease of 23.6% (19,037 tons) compared to 2023.

Despite this, export revenue for the past year still increased by 13.4% to $ 286 million, mainly due to a 48.4% rise in the average export price, which reached $ 4,639/ton.

The UAE emerged as Brazil’s largest pepper export market, with a volume of 8,179 tons, up 7.1% from 2023 and accounting for 13.3% of Brazil’s total pepper exports.

Thus, global pepper prices on January 10, 2025, saw increases only in Malaysia compared to the previous day.

Domestically, pepper prices on January 10 fell sharply compared to the previous day.

In Dak Lak, prices dropped by VND 4,000 to VND 147,000/kg.

In Dak Nong, prices fell by VND 3,000 to VND 148,000/kg.

In Gia Lai, prices also declined by VND 3,000 to VND 147,000/kg.

Traders in Dong Nai purchased pepper at VND 149,000/kg, down VND 1,000.

In Ba Ria - Vung Tau, prices decreased by VND 1,000 to VND 149,000/kg.

In Binh Phuoc, traders transacted at VND 149,000/kg, a drop of VND 1,000.

Pepper prices in the domestic market saw a significant drop today, with some areas losing as much as VND 4,000. This has brought prices down to around VND 149,000/kg.

Thus, domestic pepper prices on January 10, 2025, are currently trading between VND 147,000/kg and VND 149,000/kg.
