In the world market

In the world market today, July 20, the spot pepper price on the Kochi exchange, India, increased by INR 33.35 per quintal, at INR 42,000 per quintal.

The cross rate of Vietnam Dong to Indian Rupees (INR) from July 15 to July 21, 2021, has been applied by the State Bank for export and import tax calculation is 311.13 VND/INR.

Thus, pepper prices today, July 20, in the world market is moving sideways, at INR 42,000 per quintal.

In the domestic market

Pepper prices today, July 20, are flat compared to yesterday, at the range of VND 72,500-75,500 per kilogram.

Specifically, pepper prices in Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces are at VND 73,500 per kilogram.

In Gia Lai province, pepper is purchased at VND 72,500 per kilogram.

Dong Nai province's pepper price today has remained at VND 73,000 per kilogram.

Pepper price in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province is at VND 75,500 per kilogram.

In Binh Phuoc province, pepper price is traded at VND 74,500 per kilogram.

According to statistics, the pepper's export volume in the first 6 months of 2021 reached 154,038 tons of all kinds, down 12,477 tons (7.49%) compared to the first 6 months of 2020.

However, the export turnover in the first 6 months of 2021 reached US$ 496.84 million, increased by US$ 141.43 million, equivalent to 39.79%, compared to the same period of last year.

Due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic and the galloping increase in freight fees, the world's supply and demand have been sharply decreased.

In 2020, the total domestic pepper volume was 240,000 tons, down 15% compared to 2019. Pepper growers are not interested after many years of devaluation due to decreased output, crop failure, or diseases.
