Yara recently began production of renewable-based ammonia in Brazil. The report by World Fertilizer can be seen here, https://www.worldfertilizer.com/…. A purified biogas made from sugarcane waste, biomethane can seamlessly replace fossil natural gas, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 75%.
This achievement demonstrates Yara's commitment to decarbonizing the food and industrial value chains as the company progresses toward carbon neutrality by 2050, according to the article.
"This is a significant step in building renewable-based value chains across sectors and industries, from food and mining to on- and off-shore transport," Marcelo Altieri, president of Yara Brazil, said.
Yara's industrial complex in Cubatao, the largest consumer of natural gas in Sao Paulo and Brazil's leading ammonia producer, is now fully equipped to operate with biomethane.
Two fertilizers are now higher in price compared to one year ago. 10-34-0 is 3% higher while DAP is 4% more expensive looking back to last year.
The remaining six fertilizers are lower. MAP is 1% lower, UAN28 is 5% less expensive, urea is 9% lower, UAN32 is 11% less expensive, potash is 14% lower and anhydrous 15% less expensive compared to last year.
DTN gathers fertilizer price bids from agriculture retailers each week to compile the DTN Fertilizer Index. DTN first began reporting data in November 2008.
