However, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the pangasius breed prices must be VND 40,000-50,000 per kilogram, so pangasius breed producers are profitable.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap province, the province has the country's largest pangasius farming area and production. As of August 8, 2021, the province's total pangasius farming area reached more than 1,600 hectares, in which harvested area was nearly 553 hectares, and harvested output was over 223 thousand tons. By mid-August 2021, the price of raw pangasius has dropped to VND 20,500-21,500 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the average cost of production is about VND 22,500 per kilogram, so farmers have no profit.
