Fisheries suffer severe damage, MARD calls for support to restore production

(VAN) The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has sent letters to agencies, organizations, associations, individuals and businesses, calling for support to help restore aquaculture production after the storm.

Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi) caused severe damage to both lives and property in several northern provinces and cities, including aquaculture production.

Up to now, preliminary statistics show that approximately 19.956 hectares of aquaculture water surfaces and 4.246 cages have been damaged or swept away, resulting in significant losses in both infrastructure and aquaculture production.

In response to the call from the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and to continue promoting the tradition of solidarity and mutual support, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) calls on agencies, organizations and benefactors to join hands in providing support to aquaculture facilities. They seek donations of cash, cages, buoys, nets, seeds, feed, biological products, chemicals, veterinary medicines and other supplies to help mitigate the damage and restore production as soon as possible.

MARD, in coordination with local authorities, will facilitate connections so that agencies, organizations, businesses and benefactors can directly reach out to affected areas to support farmers and fishers.
