One of the systems most affected by Typhoon No. 3 is high-voltage power grids. As of the morning of September 11, EVN had restored 11/13 incidents for the 500 kV power grid.

With the 220kV power grid, 40/44 incidents were resolved. All 10 affected 220kV transformer stations have returned to normal. Meanwhile, the 110kV power grid has only restored 158/187 incidents and put into operation 94/120 transformer stations.

According to EVN, 1,376/1,604 medium voltage lines that had problems due to the typhoon's effects have been restored. At the same time, 4.8 million customers in the Northern region out of a total of over 5.9 million customers affected by Typhoon No. 3 (equivalent to 81.3%) have had power restored.

Currently, the tense areas are the provinces of Yen Bai, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, and Lao Cai. Since the night of September 9, continuous heavy rain has caused major floods and flooding in 15 areas, leading to more than 400,000 customers losing power.

Northern power units commit to continue mobilizing human resources, vehicles, materials, and equipment to restore power supply to customers affected by storms and floods as quickly as possible. .

In order to speed up the restoration of the power system, 245 engineers and skilled workers from six power companies in the Central region will be present to support Quang Ninh on September 13.

Mr. Ngo Tan Cu, General Director of Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC), said: "With experience working in areas frequently affected by storms and floods, and after completing the task of supporting the construction of the 500kV circuit-3 line, EVNCPC's assault team will support Quang Ninh to quickly overcome incidents and provide electricity to customers in areas affected by natural disasters.".

In addition to human resources, EVNCPC's assault team also carries vehicles and tools for repair and construction of the power grid to ensure proactiveness in the support process.

Providing more information about hydroelectric lakes, EVN said that large amounts of water continue to flow, especially lakes in the Northern midland and mountainous region. Reservoirs are opening discharge gates for regulation.

To be more specific, Tuyen Quang hydroelectric reservoir discharges five gates; Lai Chau discharges one gate; Ban Chat discharges one gate; Huoi Quang discharges one gate; Thac Ba discharges three gates; Trung Son discharges six gates; and Ban Ve discharges six gates.

At Thac Ba hydroelectric plant, the largest flow to the lake was 5,620 m3/s at 9:00 a.m. on September 10. Currently, the flow to the lake has decreased to 3,150 m3/s, the total discharge is 3,200 m3/s, and the upstream water level has increased to 59.9 m. Thac Ba reservoir has opened all three discharge gates according to the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Another large lake is Tuyen Quang hydroelectric plant. The largest flow to the lake is 6,966 m3/s at 9:00 a.m. on September 9. The flow to the lake has now decreased to 2,850 m3/s, the total discharge is 4,359 m3/s, and the upstream water level has decreased to 117.9 m.

From 2:00 p.m. on September 8 to 3:00 p.m. on September 9, the lake opened all eight bottom discharge gates. By September 10, Tuyen Quang lake had two gates closed. At 8:00 a.m. today, September 11, one more gate was closed.
