Globally, the two exchanges in London and New York showed mixed movements on November 22.
Specifically, Robusta prices on the London exchange for January 2025 delivery reversed, dropping by $ 11 (equivalent to 0.23%), to $ 4,787/ton. Meanwhile, the March 2025 contract slightly decreased by $ 10 (equivalent to 0.21%), to $ 4,732/ton.
On the New York exchange, Arabica prices for March 2025 delivery increased by 3.2 cents (equivalent to 1.09%), reaching 295.70 cents/lb. Similarly, the May 2025 contract rose by 2.9 cents (equivalent to 1%), to 293.15 cents/lb.
World coffee prices saw mixed movements, with Robusta slightly declining on the London exchange due to pressure from the strengthening USD, while Arabica on the New York exchange maintained positive growth.
As of the latest survey, the DXY index, measuring the USD against six major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stood at 107.04.
The USD has risen to a 13-month high as investors evaluated the latest labour market data and comments from Federal Reserve officials regarding interest rate pathways.
However, a reassessment of Brazil's coffee production by the USDA supported Arabica prices. The USDA's evaluation estimated a lower yield than previously projected, boosting market expectations.
Thus, global coffee prices on November 22, 2024, displayed contrasting trends compared to the previous day.
In the domestic market, coffee prices decreased slightly by VND 200 compared to the previous day.
In Lam Dong province, the districts of Di Linh, Bao Loc, and Lam Ha recorded a price of VND 114,400/kg.
In Dak Lak province, Cu M'gar traded at VND 115,000/kg, while Ea H'leo and Buon Ho reached VND 114,900/kg.
In Dak Nong province, traders in Gia Nghia and Dak R'lap transacted at VND 115,100/kg and VND 115,000D/kg, respectively.
In Gia Lai province, Chu Prong recorded a price of VND 114,800/kg, while Pleiku and La Grai held steady at VND 114,700/kg.
In Kon Tum province, the purchasing price stood at VND 114,700/kg.
Thus, on November 22, 2024, domestic coffee prices are trading in the range of VND 114,400 - 115,100/kg.
