On the global market, both the London and New York exchanges experienced significant declines on January 4.
In London, Robusta prices for March 2025 delivery fell sharply by $88 (equivalent to 1.74%), settling at $ 4,968/ton. The May 2025 delivery contract also dropped significantly by $80 (equivalent to 1.61%), reaching $ 4,897/ton.
On the New York exchange, Arabica prices for March 2025 delivery decreased by 8.2 cents (equivalent to 2.51%), to 318.65 cents/lb. Meanwhile, the May 2025 delivery contract dropped by 7.2 cents (equivalent to 2.24%), to 314.90 cents/lb.
Global coffee prices fell sharply today following two consecutive strong gains. The rise of the USD and reports of rainfall in Brazil contributed to declines on both the London and New York exchanges.
Thus, global coffee prices on January 4, 2024, have reversed sharply compared to yesterday.
In the domestic market, coffee prices today dropped by VND 2,000 compared to yesterday.
In Lam Dong province, the districts of Di Linh, Bao Loc, and Lam Ha are trading at the same level of VND 119,800/kg.
In Dak Lak, Cu M’gar district is purchasing coffee at VND 120,500/kg, while Ea H’leo and Buon Ho districts are trading at VND 120,400/kg.
In Dak Nong, traders in Gia Nghia and Dak R’lap are buying at VND 120,500/kg and VND 122,400/kg, respectively.
In Gia Lai, Chu Prong district is trading at VND 122,400/kg, while Pleiku and La Grai are both holding steady at VND 120,300/kg.
In Kon Tum, the coffee purchase price today stands at VND 120,300/kg.
Toward the end of the year, the global and domestic coffee markets show no signs of cooling off. In fact, coffee prices have continued to "heat up," setting new records at $ 5,300/ton in global markets and VND 130,000/kg in domestic markets.
Thus, as of January 4, 2024, domestic coffee prices are trading around VND 119,800 - 120,500/kg.
