In which, the price of Robusta coffee for September delivery fell by $185 (6.91%), while the price of Arabica coffee for September delivery fell sharply by 4.85 cents (2.96%).
In the first 6 months of 2023, Robusta coffee prices increased sharply, continuously setting new records. But in only 3 trading sessions at the end of June 2023, most of the previous gains have been swept away. From a peak of $2,729/ton, this coffee item has fallen to a bottom of $2,478/ton. While, if calculated on the closing price of September 2023, coffee on the London exchange lost $ 224/ton.
Currently, the coffee market on the two exchanges continues the downward trend as funds and speculators push to liquidate their net positions before closing the first 6 months of 2023.
The market is concerned that the upcoming currency interest rate will be volatile when derivative coffee exchanges are no longer chosen as a haven for speculative capital flows. This causes coffee prices to return to a nearly two-year low.
