The US buys Vietnamese pepper ten times compared to India's

(VAN) This year, the US has significantly increased its pepper imports, with the majority still coming from Vietnam, at a volume ten times higher over India.
 

According to the U.S. International Trade Commission, in the first 9 months of 2024, the United States imported 73,000 tons of pepper, with 57,000 tons coming from Vietnam. This is ten times higher than the amount imported from India, which was only 5.7 thousand tons during the same period.

Compared to the same period last year, Vietnam's pepper imports into the U.S. have increased by 43%, while the value surged by 60%, reaching $281 million. With this import volume, Vietnam continues to be the main supplier of pepper to the U.S. market, accounting for 78% of the volume in the first 9 months of 2024.

The U.S. has been increasing its pepper imports, with the quantity rising by 43% and the value increasing by 56% compared to the same period last year.

According to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs, Vietnam's pepper exports in the first 10 months of 2024 totaled 219,000 tons, valued at $ 1.11 billion. This represents a 3% decrease in volume but a 47% increase in value compared to the same period in 2023. The U.S. remains the largest market for Vietnamese pepper, accounting for 29% of the volume in the first 10 months.
