Thaco Agri accelerates investment and human resource development

(VAN) With a long-term vision and structured investments in agriculture, Thaco Agri aims for the mission of 'Elevating Vietnamese agriculture'.

Building upon the industrial management foundation and integrated business model of Thaco's member corporations, Thaco Agri pioneers agricultural development, executing a large-scale agricultural production strategy based on organic and industrial foundations while emphasizing the development of industrial human resources in agriculture.

Agricultural industrialization strategy

Thaco Agri, a member of the Thaco group, was established in 2019 with a strategy of large-scale, integrated, and circular agricultural production based on organic principles. After five years of operation, Thaco Agri has developed large-scale integrated and circular agricultural complexes. These include specialized banana and pineapple cultivation, along with the production of other fruit crops (such as mango, pomelo, and durian), integrated with cattle farming. Additionally, they focus on breeding cattle, raising calves and pasture-grazed beef cattle, intensive cattle fattening, pig breeding and meat production integrated with forestry cultivation, and the farming of other species (goats, fish, swiftlets,...). Thaco Agri also produces agricultural supplies, and agricultural machinery, processes fruits, produces banana fibers, and manufactures organic fertilizers on a total area of over 84,000 ha in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.

Recognizing that investment in agriculture requires careful, methodical, and scientific planning, Thaco Agri focuses on thoroughly researching technical development, applying mechanization, biotechnology, and digitization with an appropriate roadmap to enhance business and production efficiency.

Thaco Agri continuously researches and invests in seed centres, applies new-generation specialized agricultural machinery and technology, completes the infrastructure of industrial clusters in integrated complexes, and establishes factories serving industrial production in agriculture.

Investment and business expansion

In 2024, Thaco Agri continues to invest VND 5,400 billion in construction, new cultivation projects, and livestock farming, laying the foundation for sustainable agricultural development.

Thaco Agri has initiated the planting of 5,200 new ha of banana trees, increasing the total banana cultivation area to 6,600 ha, along with the planting of 60 new ha of pineapples. Additionally, the company aims to increase its cattle herd to 114,000 by the end of 2024, with an estimated 9,200 cattle to be sold by that time.

The total area for fruit cultivation combined with cattle farming is 6,000 ha, with an estimated fruit export output of 61,000 tons (60,000 tons of bananas and 1,000 tons of other fruit varieties). In the near future, Thaco Agri will continue to supply the market with high-yield, high-quality organic agricultural products (fresh and processed) for export.

This year, Thaco Agri's agricultural export revenue is expected to reach approximately $ 46 million, with a domestic revenue of VND 1,600 billion. By 2025, the corporation aims to achieve $ 300 million in exports and about VND 2,500 billion in domestic revenue. By 2027, after completing its investments, Thaco Agri targets $ 1 billion in agricultural export revenue.

Focus on human resource development in agriculture

In parallel with its business operations, Thaco Agri places great emphasis on developing high-quality human resources. The company currently employs over 21,600 people across Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Thaco Agri has organized numerous internal training courses to help its staff improve their knowledge and skills in effectively applying advanced technologies in production.
