In 2017, Truong Hai Corporation (Thaco) responded to the government's initiative for the development of agriculture as one of Vietnam's key economic sectors. With a strategic approach termed "agricultural industrialization," Thaco capitalized on the Mechanical and Automotive industries' advantages. Subsequently, in 2019, Thaco established Thaco Agri to implement an agricultural production investment strategy covering 84,000 hectares across three countries: Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
As of present, Thaco Agri has invested and substantially completed a large-scale organic agricultural production model with an integrated/circular approach. This model consists of multiple components, including: banana, pineapple, and fruit tree (durian, mango, pomelo, etc.) production; forestry; cattle, pigs, fish, and other livestock production; food processing; and agricultural supply and equipment production.
Thaco Agri has actively applied mechanization, biotechnology, and digital transformation to large-scale agricultural production.
The integrated agricultural complexes have received simultaneous and extensive investment in terms of technical infrastructure and facilities on land in order to facilitate production and business activities, and ensure biosecurity and welfare for their workers. By the end of 2023, Thaco Agri's total revenue reached nearly 3.5 trillion Vietnamese dong. Additionally, the company boasts a herd of nearly 79,000 cattle and and 58,000 pigs, and a total animal feed yield of 84,000 tons. With large-scale, simultaneous, and modern investment, Thaco Agri provides the market with fresh and processed organic fruit products in significant quantities and consistent quality. Notably, the company's fresh fruit products have been exported to various major consumer markets around the world including China, Japan, and South Korea, totaling 123,000 tons in export volume and 85 million USD in export revenue.

It is projected that potential risks from the global economic environment will continue to persist throughout 2024, which will adversely affect Vietnam's prospects for economic recovery and growth. However, according to economic analysts, the agricultural sector will maintain its critical position as the cornerstone of the economy, ensuring food security and actively contributing to macroeconomic stability.
In a resolute commitment to its large-scale organic agricultural production strategy, Thaco Agri is set to invest 5.8 trillion Vietnamese dong in various construction, reforestation, and livestock production projects in 2024. This significant investment will serve as the foundation for sustainable agricultural development.
Accordingly, Thaco Agri plans to replant 7,600 hectares of bananas, increasing the total banana production area to 11,600 hectares. Additionally, the company also plans to increase the total cattle herd to 151,500 heads by the end of 2024, with an estimated commercial cattle yield of 17,200 heads; increase the fruit tree and cattle integrated production area to 7,100 hectares; increase the forestry and cattle integrated production area to 580 hectares, with an estimated fruit yield of 7,200 tons. Furthermore, Thaco Agri will maintain 9,500 hectares of rubber latex production area, with an expected rubber latex yield of 14,400 tons; a total pig herd of 136,600 heads, and an estimated commercial pig yield of 158,800 heads in 2024; an animal feed yield of 120,000 tons. The company will also continue to develop high-value freshwater fish farming projects, with a focus on establishing fish hatcheries and producing commercial fish.
To accomplish the outlined objectives, Thaco Agri is actively recruiting 12,600 workers, subsequently increasing the total permanent staff of Thaco Agri to 34,300 by the end of this year. Specifically, the company is focusing on recruiting workers in Laos, Cambodia, as well as foreign technical personnel specializing in crop and livestock production.

In addition to its business operations, Thaco Agri consistently prioritizes the well-being of its workers through various initiatives and programs, including: constructing free housing complexes and convenience stores; implementing labor contracts and health insurance coverage; establishing medical examination rooms; and providing free medication to workers. Furthermore, the company organizes free classes for the children of Cambodian workers.
