This yellow camellia tea is a rare plant that is traditionally grown under forest canopy. It is frequently referred to as the "queen of teas" due to its exceptional medicinal properties.  This tea is distinguished by its mildly sweet, distinctive flavor, a delicate fragrance, and a shimmering golden tint.  According to scientific research, tra hoa vang contains bioactive compounds that can aid in the prevention of cancer, regulation of blood pressure, reduction of cholesterol, and enhancement of the immune system.

In Ba Che, where the soil and climate are uniquely suited, tra hoa vang flourishes and produces high-quality produce.  The inhabitants of Ba Che have successfully cultivated refined tea buds that completely preserve the value of nature as a result of their sustainable farming practices, rich vegetation, and mountainous terrain.

The "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) initiative has been instrumental in facilitating the extension of local specialties' market reach.

As per Decision No. 377/QD-BNN-VPDP, which was signed on January 17, 2025, by Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam, Ba Che tra hoa vang by Dap Thanh Forestry Trading Joint Stock Company (Ba Che District) was one of the 28 products that received the prestigious 5-star national rating in the 2024 OCOP product evaluation and ranking.

This national-level 5-star OCOP certification serves as a distinct indication of the exceptional quality of Ba Che tra hoa vang.  The culmination of years of effort by local authorities and cooperatives to improve production processes and enhance commercial value in order to meet international standards is represented by this.

To obtain this certification, a product must satisfy stringent requirements, including economic viability, export potential, standardized packaging, clean sourcing, and safe processing methods.  Businesses and cooperatives have consistently enhanced their practices with the strong backing of the Quang Ninh provincial government, successfully positioning Ba Che tra hoa vang as a flagship product that is capable of competing on a global scale.

The value of Ba Che tra hoa vang had already been demonstrated prior to its acquisition of the OCOP 5-star certification, as prices for desiccated flowers ranged from 12 to 15 million VND per kilogram.  In comparison to numerous other teas, this product's expensive price is symbolic of its exceptional value.  About 150 hectares of tra hoa vang cultivation are currently in operation in Ba Che district, producing an annual yield of 17 tons of fresh tea leaves and flowers.

Additionally, tra hoa vang offers stable employment and income to hundreds of local residents, in addition to its economic significance.  In addition to contributing to economic development, the cooperatives participate in the conservation of this uncommon plant species and the maintenance of a sustainable ecosystem.

Mr. Khieu Anh Tu, Vice Chairman of the Ba Che District People's Committee, has stated that the local government has proactive developed strategies to expand the planting area, support producers in enhancing the quality of their products, and invest in packaging and design.

Ba Che is also actively promoting its tra hoa vang brand through media channels, trade exhibitions, e-commerce platforms, and the annual Tra Hoa Vang Festival, which draws the attention of numerous consumers and potential partners.

With the OCOP 5-star certification, Ba Che tra hoa vang has the potential to broaden its market, particularly in countries such as Japan, South Korea, China, and Europe, where premium herbal teas are in high demand.  In order to enhance the quality of their products and capitalize on this certification, cooperatives and businesses must continue to incorporate technology into their processing.

Ba Che tra hoa vang's OCOP 5-star status is not only a source of pride for Quang Ninh but also a catalyst for the expansion of Vietnam's medicinal herb sector.  With its sustainable development strategies, well-planned investments, and inherent potential, Ba Che tra hoa vang is well-positioned to achieve even greater heights and become a nationally recognized product of international renown.
