World pepper price on May 19

Pepper price on May 19 in the world market remained stable in other countries. 

Accordingly, the price of Lampung black pepper in Indonesia remained at $3,612/ton. The country's price of Muntok white pepper remained unchanged; at $6,144/ton.

Malaysia's Kuching ASTA black pepper price remained stable at $4,900/ton; while the country's ASTA white pepper is still priced at $7,300/ton.

For the Brazilian market, the price of black pepper ASTA 570 is $2,950/ton. 

In Vietnam, the export price of 500 and 550 g/l black pepper is $3,500 and $3,600/ton, respectively.

Today's world pepper price has no new changes in all export markets.

According to data from the US International Trade Commission (USITC), the US imported a total of 11,612 tons of pepper in the first two months of 2023; up 4.9% over the same period last year. 

In general, US pepper imports recorded a slight increase, but inflation and recession concerns still weighed on the consumption outlook of this market. 

Thus, today's pepper price on 05/19/2023 in the world market is flat compared to yesterday.

Domestic pepper price on May 19

Pepper price on May 19 in the domestic market continued to decrease slightly compared to yesterday.

Specifically, Dak Lak and Dak Nong pepper prices today decreased slightly to VND 74,500/kg;

Today's pepper price in Gia Lai decreased by VND 500, trading at VND 73,000/kg;

Pepper price today in Dong Nai decreased slightly, purchased at VND 73,500/kg;

The latest pepper price today in Ba Ria - Vung Tau decreased to VND 76,000/kg;

And Binh Phuoc pepper price on May 19 traded at VND 75,500/kg; a decrease of VND 500.

Recently, the domestic market is showing signs of speculation, pinning the price on the "sharks". According to experts, the amount of pepper in Vietnam's warehouses in recent years has been released a lot. 

The amount of new-season pepper sold to the market increased at the end of the season due to the surges. Farmers tend to hold commodities and traders hoard pepper this year to wait for higher prices.

In the latest monthly report, Simexco Daklak said, the output of the last harvest forecasted stayed at just over 200,000 tons of pepper, and export increase up to 107,000 tons after 4 months. This means that selling pressure from farmers and agents will not be much for the rest of the season. 

Thus, today's pepper price on 05/19/2023 in the domestic market is trading around VND 73,000 - 76,000/kg.
