Nearly 4,500 people were vaccinated to prevent rabies

According to the Lang Son Sub-department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, from the beginning of the year until now, there have been 5 rabies outbreaks in dogs in the province, including 1 outbreak in Cao Loc district, 3 outbreaks in 3 communes in Bac Son district, 1 outbreak in Van Quan district.

In addition, Lang Son had an outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Tu Mich commune, Loc Binh district, 32 buffaloes and cows were infected, and 1 animal died and was exterminated.

In addition, African swine fever occurred in 578 households/8 districts, the number of infected, dead and destroyed pigs was 2,272, and the total weight was nearly 120 tons.

Through monitoring, the rate of vaccination for livestock compared to the total herd number is not high, especially in dog and cat rabies vaccination, the average of the whole province is 29% compared to the total herd number.

According to the CDC of Lang Son province, by September 30, 2023, the number of people bitten and scratched by dogs and cats and having to be vaccinated for rabies prevention treatment increased. The whole province has 4,448 people vaccinated for rabies prevention treatment, an increase of 955 people compared to the same period in 2022, of which 144 people have to be vaccinated with anti-rabies serum.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lang Son province requests the People's Committees of districts and cities to organize information and propaganda about the risks and harmful effects of dangerous diseases on livestock, instruct farmers to implement disease prevention measures such as hygiene, disinfection, and disease-free livestock farming, vaccination and the benefits of full vaccination to prevent dangerous diseases for livestock; forming animal disease-free areas and facilities.​​
