On June 22, the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province reported that the local authorities had issued a decision to impose an administrative fine for a violation involving a fishing vessel not being equipped with a journey monitoring device as required.

Accordingly, Mr. Le Van Su, Vice Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, has just signed a decision to impose an administrative fine on Mr. Dang Van Cam (residing in Quarter 3, Song Doc town, Tran Van Thoi district), owner of the fishing vessel CM-99345 TS, for not having a journey monitoring device when operating on a fishing vessel with a maximum length of 15 meters to less than 24 meters, in accordance with point b, clause 6, Article 35 of Decree No. 38/2024/ND-CP, dated April 5, 2024, of the Government.

Mr Dang Van Cam was fined VND 100 million for not installing a journey monitoring device as required. The fine decision has been communicated to Mr. Cam.

Mr. Dang Van Cam (owner of the fishing vessel CM-99345 TS) was involved in an incident where the authorities had just detained the fishing vessel CM-91911 TS, owned and captained by Mr. Nguyen Thien Tinh (residing in Luu Hoa Thanh hamlet, Tan Thuan commune, Dam Doi district), for retaining the journey monitoring device of another fishing vessel while operating at sea.

The violation by Mr Nguyen Thien Tinh was previously fined VND 79 million by the People's Committee of Dam Doi district.

It is known that the fishing vessel CM-99345 TS, owned by Mr. Cam, was leased to another individual for fishing activities at sea. After removing the journey monitoring device and sending it to the fishing vessel CM-91911 TS, the individual and the vessel lost contact.
