On the afternoon of September 27 (local time), General Secretary and President To Lam, along with his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, departed from the capital, Havana, marking the successful conclusion of a state visit to the Republic of Cuba. This visit was made at the invitation of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and his wife.
First Secretary Díaz-Canel, Politburo member Roberto Morales Ojeda, Permanent Secretary of the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Cuba, and numerous other leaders from the Party and the State of Cuba accompanied them to José Martí International Airport to bid farewell to General Secretary and President To Lam, his wife, and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation. This reflects Cuba’s deep respect for the special brotherhood, solidarity, and friendship between the two Parties, States, and peoples.
During the visit, General Secretary and President To Lam held high-level talks and meetings with leaders of the Cuban Party, State, National Assembly, and Government, as well as participated in various activities aimed at elevating the solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Vietnam and Cuba to new heights.
The leaders of Vietnam and Cuba reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between the two nations. They determine to elevate the relationship to new levels of depth, substance, effectiveness, and sustainability, in the spirit of mutual support, cooperation, and shared development. This partnership will advance the cause of socialist construction and development, serve the interests of the peoples of both countries, and contribute to peace, cooperation, and growth in their respective regions and globally.
During the visit, on behalf of the Cuban Party and State leadership, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, presided over a ceremony to award the José Martí Medal to General Secretary and President To Lam.
The José Martí Medal, Cuba’s highest honor, recognizes the invaluable contributions of General Secretary and President To Lam to fostering solidarity, friendship, and unwavering loyalty between the Party, State, and people of Vietnam and Cuba.
In their high-level talks and meetings, both sides placed special emphasis on the enduring historical significance of the unique, loyal, and pure solidarity between the brotherly peoples of Vietnam and Cuba.
On the occasion of his State visit, General Secretary and President To Lam, his wife, and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited and laid wreaths at the Hồ Chí Minh Monument, located in the park named after the late Vietnamese leader in the capital city of Havana.
