On September 27, in Rach Gia City, the Kien Giang Provincial Cooperative Alliance held a ceremony to celebrate its 30th anniversary. After 30 years of developing the collective economy, Kien Giang now has 2,272 cooperative groups, 525 cooperatives, and 3 cooperative unions. The total charter capital of the cooperatives exceeds $ 22.5 million, with average revenues of nearly $ 123,000/cooperative, average profits of $ 20,500, and an income of $ 2,300/person/year.
Over the past 30 years, the Kien Giang Provincial Cooperative Alliance has made significant efforts to develop the collective economy, with an increasing number of cooperatives and cooperative groups in terms of size, type, and scope of operations. The cooperative alliance has also served as an intermediary, introducing businesses to sign production link contracts with more than 150 cooperatives. Every year, dozens of cooperatives are organized to participate in product exhibitions at fairs in various provinces and cities nationwide. Thirteen emulation blocks have been organized within agricultural cooperatives and credit funds to motivate the development of the cooperative economy.
Additionally, the Kien Giang Provincial Cooperative Alliance has acted as a bridge, helping dozens of cooperatives sign cooperation contracts with commercial banks, and supporting members in obtaining loans for expanding production and business activities, with hundreds of billions of VND involved.
To date, many key products of cooperatives and cooperative groups with high value have been recognized as OCOP (One Commune One Product) products, such as dried shrimp, fish sauce, rice, fish cakes, handicrafts, and woven items made from rush grass and water hyacinth...
In addition to economic activities, the cooperatives have made significant contributions to social welfare, poverty alleviation, rural development, and job creation for tens of thousands of workers in rural areas.
