According to the Southern Institute of Irrigation Planning and the forecast of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Center of the United States (NOAA), the forecasted daily rainfall in the lower Mekong region in the next six days has many fluctuations due to a tropical depression in the East Sea.

The highest rainfall is in Southern Laos and the bordering area between Laos, Thailand and Cambodia countries on October 7 and October 8, at 40-100 millimeters in most, and over 100 millimeters in some places. However, rainfall in the following days will decrease sharply to less than 20 millimeters.

On other days and in other areas, rainfall is from 10 to 20 millimeters, and there is no rain in many places.

It is currently in the late half of the rainy season. As a result, the water level on the Mekong River mainstream is relatively low. On October 6, at 7 o'clock, the water level measured at Kratie was 15 meters; 1.96 meters lower than average for many years; and 1.25 meters high than 2020.

Rainfall due to the influence of tropical depression occurred on the Mekong River is at a high level. In addition, the rain range and duration are also quite extensive.

Therefore, the water source on the Mekong River mainstream is forecasted to increase back with a relatively large intensity in the upcoming time.
