On October 15, the Faculty of Agriculture and Aquaculture at Cuu Long University hosted a meeting with a delegation of experts from the "Green Field - Phero Rice" project who came to visit and work.

Ms. Phan Thanh Thuy, an advisor for the ASSIST project, provided a brief overview of the "Green Field - Phero Rice" project. She stated that Vinh Long is one of three provinces selected to implement the "Green Field - Phero Rice" project.

The project's goal is to introduce Pheromone products—a biological pest management solution to control pests and diseases in rice. It includes training and promoting Pheromone products to farmers, organizing field trips to introduce pilot models to households, and sharing educational materials about Pheromone products with universities and colleges that offer programs in Plant Protection, such as Cuu Long University.

Immediately after the meeting, the Faculty of Agriculture and Aquaculture organized a seminar on the topic "Application of Biological Pheromones in Pest Control on Rice Fields."

Ms. Manon Josette Jacqueline Avignon from the Technical and Technology Development Department of M2i Life Science Company shared information with delegates and students about plant protection products, integrated pest management (IPM), and biological and bio-based solutions in IPM.

She discussed methods for detecting and controlling pests using chemical signals, gave some examples of pheromone-based mating disruption systems, and answered students' questions regarding the application of biological pheromones in pest control on rice fields.
