On April 12th, the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province held a meeting to finalize the contents of the Festival celebrating 100 years of Macapuno Coconut Tree in Tra Vinh and the Week of Vu-Lan Ceremony in Cau Ke district in 2024.
According to the plan, the event will feature various activities such as: the Opening Ceremony of the Festival celebrating 100 years of the Macapuno Coconut Tree in Tra Vinh; a Workshop on Macapuno coconut trees with the participation of neighbouring provinces such as Bến Tre, Vĩnh Long, Tiền Giang...; a Seminar on "Cầu Kè Tourism - The potential along the Hậu River"; an Exhibition showcasing the delicious fruit specialities of Cầu Kè district; a Cooking contest featuring 100 delicious dishes made from Macapuno coconut (aiming to establish the Vietnamese record for the locality with the most dishes made from Macapuno coconut).
Additionally, there will be cultural activities such as: the Opening Ceremony of the Week of Vu-Lan Ceremony; a Trade Fair with 200 booths from domestic and international businesses; a local food area with the participation of 30 units; a Lion Dragon Festival with the participation of over 15 Lion Dragon Dance clubs from both inside and outside the province; an Exhibition on the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Vu-Lan Ceremony in Cau Ke district; Sports activities and folk games.
The Festival celebrating 100 years of the Macapuno Coconut Tree in Tra Vinh and the Week of Vu-Lan Ceremony in Cau Ke district, Tra Vinh province in 2024 is expected to last for 7 days, from August 25th to 31st, 2024. The event will be held at the Sports Center of the Culture, Information, and Sports Center of Cau Ke district.
Mr. Le Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province, stated that the event aims to promote the image of Cau Ke homeland and Tra Vinh province and introduce the potential of the district, especially in delicious fruits.
Furthermore, the festival also focuses on enhancing cultural exchange, and trade, and linking the development of diverse tourism products. Through this event, they also hope to promote promotion activities and attract investment in trade, agriculture, and tourism sectors.
