The ceremony for the announcement of Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam 2024 (CSI100) took place on November 29th, with the participation of Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment, who is also the Vice Chairman of the National Council for Sustainable Development, along with leaders from various ministries, agencies and representatives from leading companies in sustainable development.

During the event, C.P. Vietnam Livestock Joint Stock Company (CPV) further solidified its reputation by receiving two prestigious awards: the “Top 100 - Sustainable Businesses in Vietnam in the Manufacturing Sector” and the specialized award “Top 5 - Pioneer Businesses in Implementing Circular Economy and Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in 2024”.

Vietnam, was honored to receive the award for “Top 100 Sustainable Businesses in the Manufacturing Sector”, while Mr. Worawit Arunraksa, Assistant Deputy General Director, Manager of Sustainable Development Department, was recognized with the “Top 5 - Pioneer Businesses in Implementing Circular Economy and Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions in 2024” award.

The "Sustainable development business" award is an initiative established by the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), with the goal of evaluating companies based on the CSI index. This index serves as a comprehensive tool for measuring a business’s sustainable development performance across three key areas: economic, environmental and social. The CSI index not only assists companies in improving their internal processes but also provides a foundation for managing organizational change, directing businesses toward sustainable production and operations.

C.P. Vietnam has been consistently recognized with the "Sustainable development business" award over multiple years, highlighting the company's ongoing commitment to sustainable development.

Furthermore, the "Top 5 Award for Circular Economy Implementation and Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction" also reflects C.P. Vietnam's ongoing efforts to meet its long-term sustainability goals. Specifically, the company is working towards a target of reducing direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 15% per unit of production by 2030, compared to the baseline year of 2020. Looking ahead to 2050, C.P. Vietnam is committed to achieving net-zero emissions through a series of strategic investments in energy-efficient technologies and machinery. The company has also implemented an energy management system to monitor consumption, actively seeking out and adopting renewable energy sources such as solar energy and biomass. Notably, C.P. Vietnam made the decision to phase out coal use starting in 2021.

Over the years, C.P. Vietnam has been an active proponent of the circular economy model, which focuses on minimizing environmental impact and preserving natural ecosystems. One significant initiative in this regard is the tree-planting project, which aims to plant 1.5 million trees in Vietnam between 2021 and 2025. This project is being carried out in two phases: 500.000 trees will be planted at the company’s factories and farms, while an additional 1.000.000 trees will be planted through partnerships with local authorities and communities.

The award recognized this time is the 'fruit of labor' that the departments within C.P. Vietnam have collectively nurtured.

At the event, Mr. Vu Anh Tuan highlighted that C.P. Vietnam’s participation in the CSI 100 program has played a pivotal role in the company’s sustainable development journey. The CSI index has provided the company with valuable insights, helping improve management systems, enhance competitiveness and build stronger trust with the community, consumers and supply chain partners.

C.P. Vietnam operates under the comprehensive 3F Plus model, which includes Feed (seeds and animal feed, aquaculture feed), Farm (livestock breeding and farms), Food (food processing and distribution) and "Plus" (sustainability, traceability, and environmental friendliness). By integrating these sectors, CPV has been able to work collaboratively across the business to foster sustainable development. The recognition received is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the company's various departments, who have collectively contributed to this achievement.

C.P. Vietnam’s approach to sustainability extends beyond simply meeting national and international standards. The company is deeply committed to supporting the community and protecting the environment. Through continuous innovation, CPV has not only advanced its business development strategies but also worked towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This is reflected in the company's initiatives, such as adopting circular economy models, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, launching environmental conservation projects and ensuring the provision of sustainable livelihoods for local communities.

The 2024 Vietnam Sustainable Enterprises Awards Ceremony, themed "Enterprises rising in the green era", marked the conclusion of the ninth consecutive year of tireless efforts in the search, promotion, dissemination, evaluation and encouragement of businesses participating in the Vietnam Sustainable Business Evaluation and Announcement Program (CSI).

In 2024, the CSI Program attracted nearly 500 businesses from all corners of the country, spanning various sectors and scales, to submit their applications. This figure reflects a significant improvement in the national awareness of sustainable development, indicating a shift in both the mindset and actions of businesses.

As a company that places great emphasis on social responsibility and environmental sustainability, C.P. Vietnam continues to strengthen its commitment to the mission of "From Farm to Kitchen". At the same time, it remains resolute in its long-term objective of becoming the "Kitchen of the World" by creating lasting value through sustainability. For C.P. Vietnam, sustainability is not merely a business goal, but a core principle that guides its operations. It prioritizes the welfare of the nation and its communities, ensuring that their needs and well-being come first. The company is continuously working to create a balanced and sustainable economic ecosystem, aligning its operations with the needs of society and the environment. In doing so, every step taken by C.P. Vietnam is a step towards fostering a green, thriving and sustainably developed Vietnam.
