On June 7, at the Hue Children's House (No. 8 Le Loi, Hue City, Thua Thien-Hue Province), the exhibition "For Sustainable Life for Nature and People" officially opened.
The event is in response to the National Year of Biodiversity Restoration 2024, World Environment Day on June 5, and the Hue Festival Week 2024.
"For Sustainable Life for Nature and People" is the first biodiversity exhibition in over 20 years in Thua Thien-Hue, organized by the Biodiversity Conservation Component funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-Vietnam), and Helvetas, in collaboration with the Thua Thien - Hue Forest Protection Department within the framework of the "Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation" (VFBC) Project.
The exhibition aims to promote the importance of biodiversity conservation, the beauty of wild nature, and the rich flora and fauna of Thua Thien-Hue to tourists and local residents.
Additionally, the exhibition calls on everyone to live responsibly with nature and to jointly conserve the diverse flora and fauna here. Together, we commit to not hunting, trading, or consuming wildlife illegally and contribute to making Hue a city that does not consume wild meat.

According to Le Ngoc Tuan, Director of the Thua Thien-Hue Forest Protection Department, the ultimate goal of the exhibition is not just to spread the message about the importance of biodiversity conservation but also to promote specific actions from each individual and organization.
"We call on everyone to participate in biodiversity protection activities, and community campaigns, and support the efforts of organizations and the government to create a sustainable future for both nature and humans," Tuan said.
During the opening ceremony, Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H’Hen Niê actively participated and helped spread a strong message, joining hands to preserve the value of Vietnam's forest biodiversity through the meaningful dance "Do not eat wild animal meat, contribute to life." In this poetic city, she once marched with more than 500 students and guests to call for not eating wild animal meat.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors and residents of Hue will step into majestic natural scenes where each species of flora and fauna tells its own emotional story. This is an opportunity for visitors to witness the richness of the ecosystem, community-based conservation stories, and successful livelihood models, and watch films "Where Nature Speaks" honoring Bach Ma National Park, the Sao La Nature Reserve in Hue, and the Phong Dien Nature Reserve.
Each specimen and exhibit serves as a reminder, calling for joint action and responsible living with nature for future generations. Notably, the most beautiful specimen of the species known as the "Asian Unicorn" - Sao La, from the Central Coastal Natural History Museum, will be displayed at the Hue Children's House, promising to be a highlight throughout the Hue Festival 2024 season.
The exhibition runs until June 10 and is open to visitors free of charge.
The Biodiversity Conservation Component (BCA) is part of the Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation Project (VFBC) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The project, managed by the Management Board for Forestry Projects (MARD), will be implemented from July 2021 to June 2026. Its goal is to maintain and enhance forest quality while stabilizing wildlife populations in provinces with high conservation values.
The project focuses on 14 special-use forests and 7 protection forests, linking forest management boards across the regional landscape to maintain forest cover and habitat connectivity to protect endemic and endangered species in Vietnam. The Biodiversity Conservation Component is implemented by WWF-US and other partners such as WWF-Vietnam, Helvetas Vietnam, the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research, Re: wild, the Education for Nature Vietnam (ENV), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and Fauna & Flora International.
