Tay Ninh has a land fund for agricultural development that accounts for more than 85% of the natural land area (equivalent to 370,000 ha). The terrain is relatively favorable for mechanization toward large-scale commodity production. The land is suitable for many valuable tropical agricultural products to meet market demand. This is a good condition to attract large-scale investment projects for hi-tech agriculture.
In 2021, Bel Chicken Joint Stock Company (Belgium Kingdom), De Heus Group (Netherlands), and Hung Nhon Group (Vietnam) inaugurated the Bel Chicken Tay Ninh Hi-tech Poultry Incubator Factory with high-tech poultry eggs, with a capital of VND 200 billion, area of 15,000m2, designed capacity of over 19 million chicks/year in phase I and will expand capacity to 38.4 million chicks/year in phase II, meeting the demand for poultry breeds for the Vietnamese and Cambodian markets. These projects are part of the supply chain of clean, sustainable, and export-oriented agricultural products.
At the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien highly appreciated the investment attraction in the livestock sector of Tay Ninh province and the direction in line with the current strategy of high-tech application of livestock production and synchronized creation of valuable meat and egg products, helping to improve productivity and reduce product costs.
Currently, Tay Ninh province has many models of agricultural production applying high technology in the cultivation field, such as the model of growing melons of Hoang Xuan Company and the model of increasing custard apple VietGAP of Natani Joint Stock Company... The projects have automatic irrigation systems and membrane houses to prevent pathogens and pests from entering.
One of the most popular agricultural products in Tay Ninh is Ba Den custard apple, which has been granted a certificate of geographical indication registration by the National Office of Intellectual Property, helping farmers and businesses feel more secure in high-quality products. Currently, Ba Den custard apple is commonly grown around Ba Den mountain, including Thanh Tan, Tan Binh, Ninh Son and Ninh Thanh wards (Tay Ninh city); Tan Hung commune (Tan Chau district); Suoi Da commune, Phan, Bau Nang (Duong Minh Chau district), with a total area of about 5,000 ha, the output of over 50,000 tons of fruit/year.
In March 2019, Vinamilk Tay Ninh "resort" dairy cows (Long Khanh commune, Ben Cau district) were officially inaugurated, becoming the largest independent dairy farm in Vietnam, part of the GlobalGAP standard farm system on Asia's largest farm management and pure fresh milk quality. The farm has an area of 685 hectares, raising 8,000 cows, with an investment of over VND 1,200 billion.
According to Mr. Kieu Cong Minh, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Tay Ninh Province, the province is implementing a project to make Tay Ninh an attractive, safe, and effective destination for domestic and international investors.
In 2022, Tay Ninh attracted VND 16,500 billion of domestic and foreign investment capital, up 4.7% over the previous year, and granted 56 new investment projects, including agricultural, industrial, and urban development consultancy services... Two new solar power projects in Dau Tieng lake area with total registered investment capital of more than VND 7,000 billion.
In the past year, the FDI capital poured into Tay Ninh was large, mainly concentrated in the industrial sector. Accumulated up to now, the province has 370 FDI projects with total investment capital of US$ 9.2 billion, ranking 15th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide in terms of FDI investment attraction. There are 7,279 enterprises in the province with a total registered capital of VND 184,399 billion. The province's investment environment continues to remain stable. And the project's targets in terms of revenue and payment to the state budget have increased over the same period.
The implementation of policies to support agricultural development is also effective. The Provincial People's Committee has issued and implemented 7 production support policies, of which 6/7 policies are accessible to the people, step by step, creating motivation and promoting agricultural restructuring.
Mr. Gabor Fluit, Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham), said that European investors, Vietnamese businesses, and policymakers gathered at the forum with the common goal of bringing Tay Ninh becomes a sustainable agricultural export center.
Similarly, Mr. Johan van den Ban, General Director of De Heus Vietnam, assessed Tay Ninh as a vast and vital market for De Heus Group. Therefore, De Heus will try to produce effectively, providing eggs, breeding chickens, and supporting farmers in Tay Ninh, particularly Vietnam. Mr. Johan van den Ban added that it is expected that by the end of 2023, De Heus Vietnam will operate a 14.8 million chicken breeder farm in Tan Hoi commune, Tan Chau district.
Tay Ninh has a vision that by 2030 there will be 20 high-tech agricultural areas. In particular, each region forms at least one chain of production-consumption of products, contributing to raising the rate of value of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products produced in the forms of cooperation and association by over 25 % in 2025 and 35% in 2030.
