According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ngoc, Chairman of Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee, the province has excellent soil and climate conditions as well as a plentiful supply of water from Dau Tieng lake. These factors have promoted the province's rapid development of high-tech agriculture.

With an important geographical position in addition to diverse and abundant resources, Tay Ninh province has identified high-tech agriculture as one its four strategic breakthroughs. Accordingly, high-tech agriculture helps accelerating the process of agricultural restructuring and rural economy development towards multi-value integration, inclusiveness, and sustainability. Furthermore, local farmers rely financially on agriculture with the help of technology.

“The province's agricultural sector is currently focusing on transforming the crop structure towards increasing added value and sustainable development. The province will utilize its available land fund to form 20 large-scale, high-tech agricultural production areas with a focus on value chain linkage. These areas will include: 13 crop production areas, 5 livestock production areas, and 2 mixed production areas, totalling up to 11,000 hectares across the province.

Tay Ninh's agricultural production areas will be deployed in multiple phases from 2022 to 2030. According, 9 areas will be established between 2022 and 2025; 11 areas will be established between 2026 and 2030. We will strive to acquire a high-tech certificate for each of these production areas, and form at least one value chain in the consumption of products", Mr. Ngoc emphasized.

Mr. Gabor Fluit, President of EuroCham commented: “Tay Ninh province holds a strategic position in the southern key economic region with the role of connecting Vietnam with the Cambodian market. This role will be heightened greatly when construction of the HCMC - Moc Bai expressway finishes in the near future. Tay Ninh has abundant land resources, which is an attractive investment opportunity for agricultural projects with an emphasis on high-value crops, large-scale livestock production, modern food processing and so on”.

“However, these goals require high-quality human resources, modern technology and high financial capacity. These are the criteria that EuroCham investors can meet. With investment from European businesses, Tay Ninh can promote exports to the European market and become a leading province in high-tech agriculture“, Mr. Gabor Fluit added.

According to Mr. Vu Manh Hung, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Digital Agriculture Association and Chairman of Hung Nhon Group, his business currently owns 15 member companies and the DHN chain, with 1,000 hectares of farms in the Southeast and Central Highlands regions. Most notably, the Group's DHN high-tech agricultural complex chain is a joint venture model with De Hues Group from Netherlands, who is also a member of EuroCham.

The DHN joint venture between De Heus and Hung Nhon aims to reach at least 10,000 breeding pigs in the Central Highlands; 200,000 commercial sows in the Southeast, South Central and Central Highlands; 58 million breeder chickens and 25 million broiler chickens in Tay Ninh by 2023. In addition, the Group plans to begin operation of a breeder chicken farm in Tan Chau district, Tay Ninh province by the end of 2023, with a stock of 14.8 million heads.

“We hope that this connection will help Tay Ninh reach additional international investors, especially those from Europe. With modern technology, experience and strong financial potential, EuroCham businesses can invest successfully in Tay Ninh, contributing to the province's sustainable rural development" said Mr. Hung.
