Rice prices on October 19 domestically

The rice market today is experiencing mixed movements for paddy and rice.

Paddy prices remain unchanged on October 19. Specifically:

Long An sticky rice (dry) is priced at VND 10,000 - 9,800/kg; Long An IR 4625 sticky rice (dry) is at VND 9,700 - 9,600/kg;

IR 50404 paddy is around VND 7,000 - 6,900/kg; Dai Thom 8 paddy is at VND 8,000 - 7,800/kg;

OM 5451 paddy is trading at VND 7,400 - 7,200/kg; OM 18 paddy is priced at VND 7,800 - 7,500/kg;

OM 380 paddy remains at VND 7,300 - 7,200/kg; Japanese paddy is at VND 8,000 - 7,800/kg;

Nang Nhen paddy (dry) is at VND 20,000/kg, and Nang Hoa 9 paddy is priced at VND 7,000 - 6,900/kg.

Meanwhile, rice prices today have slightly increased by VND 50-100/kg.

IR 504 Summer-Autumn raw rice is at VND 10,600 - 10,400/kg (up VND 100); IR 504 finished rice is priced at VND 12,700 - 12,550/kg (up VND 50);

Sticky rice is priced between VND 22,000 and 18,000/kg; common rice is at VND 16,000 - 15,000/kg; Nang Nhen rice is at VND 28,000/kg.

Long-grain fragrant Thai rice ranges from VND 22,000 to 20,000/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice is priced at VND 20,000 - 18,000/kg; Huong Lai rice holds at VND 18,000/kg.

Regular white rice is bought at VND 17,500/kg; Nang Hoa rice is at VND 21,500/kg; Soc rice is priced between VND 18,500 and 18,000/kg; and Soc Thai rice is at VND 21,000/kg.

Taiwanese fragrant rice is priced at VND 21,000/kg, while Japanese rice remains stable at VND 22,000/kg.

The price of OM 5451 broken rice is VND 9,600 - 9,500/kg, and dry bran is priced between VND 6,000 and 5,900/kg.

On the export market, rice prices have collectively decreased slightly by 3 USD/ton. Specifically, 100% broken rice is priced at 439 USD/ton; standard rice with 5% broken grain is purchased at 534 USD/ton. Meanwhile, the price of 25% broken rice stands at 506 USD/ton.

Thus, rice prices on 10/19/2024, have seen a slight fluctuation compared to yesterday.

The role of community agricultural extension in the 1 Million Ha Rice Project

On October 18, the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in collaboration with the Mekong Delta Development Research Institute (Can Tho University), organized a workshop on the role and responsibilities of community agricultural extension teams participating in the project “Sustainable Development of One Million Hectares of High-Quality, Low-Emission Rice Cultivation Linked to Green Growth in the Mekong Delta Region by 2030” in An Giang.

Mrs Huynh Dao Nguyen, Director of the An Giang Agricultural Extension Center, stated that An Giang has currently established 129 community agricultural extension teams with 1,601 members, with a minimum of 5 people per team, led by the Deputy Chairman of the local People's Committee.

The community agricultural extension teams possess professional skills such as advising on the establishment of cooperatives, enhancing cooperative capabilities, providing technical advice to farmers and cooperatives; applying digital transformation in agricultural production; updating scientific and technological advancements; understanding production standards as required by the market and policies for agricultural product consumption linkage,...

In particular, community agricultural extension teams play a crucial role in the 1 million ha high-quality rice cultivation project by organizing campaigns to help cooperatives and farmers fully understand the necessity, importance, goals, and significance of the project. They encourage farmers to participate in cooperatives; organize activities to transfer technical processes and technology; implement pilot models and monitor cooperatives and farmers in carrying out processes and measuring and reporting MRV.
