Rice prices on October 10 domestically

The rice market on October 10 saw little fluctuation, with a slight increase in rice prices while paddy prices remained steady.

The price of paddy today (October 10) remains unchanged. Specifically:

  • Sticky rice Long An 3 months (dry) is priced at VND 9,800 - 10,000/kg; sticky rice Long An IR 4625 (dry) is priced at VND 9,600 - 9,700/kg;
  • IR 50404 paddy is around VND 6,900 - 7,000/kg; fragrant rice Dai Thom 8 is steady at VND 7,800 - 8,000/kg;
  • OM 5451 paddy is trading at VND 7,200 - 7,400/kg; OM 18 paddy is priced at VND 7,500 - 7,800/kg;
  • OM 380 paddy is around VND 7,200 - 7,300/kg; Japanese rice is steady at VND 7,800 - 8,000/kg;
  • Nang Nhen paddy (dry) is trading at VND 20,000/kg; Nang Hoa 9 is priced at VND 6,900 - 7,000/kg.

Meanwhile, rice prices today (October 10) have turned slightly down by VND 50-100.

  • The price of raw IR 504 summer-autumn rice is at VND 10,500 - 10,600/kg (down VND 50-100); finished IR 504 rice is priced at VND 12,600 - 12,800/kg (down VND 100);
  • Sticky rice is currently priced at VND 18,000 - 22,000/kg; regular rice is around VND 15,000 - 16,000/kg; Nang Nhen rice is priced at VND 28,000/kg.
  • Thai fragrant long grain rice is priced at VND 20,000 - 22,000/kg; Jasmine rice is at VND 18,000 - 20,000/kg; Huong Lai rice is steady at VND 18,000/kg.
  • Common white rice is purchased at VND 17,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice is priced at VND 20,000/kg; Soc regular rice is maintained at VND 18,000 - 18,500/kg; while Soc Thai rice is at VND 21,000/kg.
  • Taiwanese fragrant rice is priced at VND 21,000/kg; Japanese rice remains steady at VND 22,000/kg.
  • The price of OM 5451 broken rice is VND 9,500 - 9,600/kg, while dry bran is priced at VND 6,000 - 6,100/kg.

On the export market, 100% broken rice is priced at $ 440/ton; standard 5% broken rice is purchased at $ 538/ton. Meanwhile, the price of 25% broken rice is around $ 510/ton.

Thus, rice prices on 10/10/2024, in the domestic market have shown little fluctuation compared to yesterday.

Five countries collaborate to enhance low-emission rice cultivation capacity

From October 9 to 11, a workshop to kick off the project "Enhancing Low-Emission and Sustainable Rice Production Capacity in Southeast Asia" (referred to as the CABIN Project) is being held in Can Tho City.

The project is supported by the Taiwan International Cooperation Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF) and implemented by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) during the 2024-2028 period, involving five Southeast Asian countries: Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

An overview of the rice production status of the five countries participating in the CABIN Project shows that each year, these countries produce millions of tons of rice, with a total straw output of approximately 150 million tons, accounting for about 20% of global straw production.
