The pure TBR97 rice variety adapts well to the climate

According to the Tuyen Quang Agricultural Extension Center, the pure TBR97 rice variety adapts well to the weather conditions of the 2024 summer-autumn season in Minh Huong commune, Ham Yen district.

This variety has a short growth period of 100 days, making it suitable for planting winter crops; it has strong stalks, good resistance to lodging, and robust tillering.

During the implementation of the TBR97 rice cultivation model, although the flowering and ripening coincided with alternating sunny and rainy days, particularly during the ripening phase affected by Typhoon No. 3, which caused heavy rain and strong winds leading to slight lodging in some areas, the yield still reached 6.59 tons/ha (237.8 kg/Sao), higher than the control variety by 0.88 tons/ha (3.17 kg/Sao). This variety shows good resistance to rice blast disease and adapts well to changing weather conditions.

Mr Le Anh Tuan, Director of the Tuyen Quang Agricultural Extension Center, stated that to accurately assess the yield, quality, adaptability, and resistance to pests and diseases of the TBR97 variety, the centre recommends that the Thai Binh Seed Group, Phu Tho branch, continue to support the TBR97 pure rice variety to implement demonstration models in various localities in the province. This will provide a more comprehensive basis for evaluating and soon introducing the TBR97 variety for widespread production in Tuyen Quang province.

The Tuyen Quang Agricultural Extension Center also requests that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tuyen Quang continue to allow the Agricultural Extension Center to collaborate with the Thai Binh Seed Group, Phu Tho branch, to implement demonstration models of the TBR97 pure rice variety in subsequent crops throughout the province, so that farmers have the opportunity to access new high-yield and quality rice varieties.
