Pepper prices in Vietnam continued their strong upward trend on February 12, 2025, with key regions recording increases of VND 3,000 - 4,500/kg compared to the previous session. This marks the most significant rise since the beginning of the year, pushing domestic prices close to the record level of VND 165,000/kg.
Specifically, today's pepper prices in different provinces are as follows:
Thus, the highest price recorded today is VND 164,000/kg in Dak Lak and Dak Nong, while the lowest is VND 161,000/kg in Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
Reasons for the sharp increase in pepper prices: According to experts, domestic pepper prices have surged due to strong demand from major export markets such as China, the US, and the EU. Additionally, Vietnam's pepper supply remains limited due to a reduction in cultivation area and unfavorable weather conditions in recent times. Farmers are also holding back on sales, anticipating further price increases, which has added upward pressure on prices.
On the global market, pepper prices showed slight fluctuations, with a stable or rising trend in some major producing countries. Data from the International Pepper Community (IPC) indicates mixed movements across key markets such as Indonesia, Brazil, and Malaysia.
