According to a recent report from PTEXIM, demand is slowing down in all major importing countries such as the US, China, and the EU. However, the positive note is that China has re-entered the market with orders for white pepper.
Many reports indicate that Hainan Island has been severely impacted by Super Typhoon Yagi, leading to a decline in white pepper production in China. It is forecasted that the supply of white pepper in China will struggle to meet demand in the fourth quarter of 2024 and for the upcoming Tet holiday.
PTEXIM also noted that the market has been quite sluggish over the past month, with buyers showing little interest in pepper products, resulting in very slow trading. Additionally, suppliers (farmers, collectors, agents) are being very cautious in offering raw materials.
Thus, the domestic pepper prices on 09/30/2024, are trading around VND 147,500 - 149,000/kg.
