Update on pepper prices globally and domestically on 08/27/2024
Globally, the pepper market on August 27 is seeing increases in Indonesia.
Specifically, the price of Lampung black pepper in Indonesia has risen by 1.11%, reaching $ 7,574/ton. The price of Muntok white pepper in the country has also increased by 1.12%, standing at $ 8,918/ton.
The price of Kuching ASTA black pepper in Malaysia remains at $ 8,500/ton, while the white pepper ASTA from the same country is priced at $ 10,400/ton.
In Brazil, the price of ASTA 570 black pepper continues to trade at $ 6,300/ton.
In Vietnam, the export price of black pepper, grade 500 g/l, is trading at $ 5,800/ton, while the grade 550 g/l is priced at $ 6,200/ton. The export price of white pepper remains at $ 8,500/ton.
Today, pepper prices globally have increased in Indonesia but remain stable in other countries. The weakening USD, amid expectations of a potential Fed rate cut in the next meeting, has supported the prices of agricultural commodities, including pepper.
Over the past week, both domestic and export pepper prices in India have decreased, while Sri Lanka’s prices have remained unchanged.
In Southeast Asia, both domestic and export pepper prices in Indonesia have recorded an increase this week, partly due to the Indonesian Rupiah appreciating by 2% against the USD (15,532 IDR/USD).
In Malaysia and Vietnam, domestic pepper prices have risen while export prices have remained unchanged.
Brazil's black pepper prices continued to rise over the past week. Meanwhile, Cambodia’s black pepper prices have remained stable. In China, white pepper prices have shown a decreasing trend.
Thus, on 08/27/2024, global pepper prices have risen significantly in Indonesia compared to the previous day.
In the domestic market, pepper prices have seen little change compared to yesterday.
Specifically, in Dak Lak, pepper is still being bought at VND 144,000/kg.
Pepper prices in Dak Nong remain at VND 144,000/kg.
In Gia Lai, pepper prices have increased by VND 500, reaching VND 143,500/kg.
In Dong Nai, pepper continues to be bought at VND 143,000/kg.
Pepper prices in Ba Ria - Vung Tau remain at VND 143,000/kg.
In Binh Phuoc, the price of pepper is at VND 143,000/kg.
Today, domestic pepper prices have largely remained steady, with only Gia Lai seeing a slight increase of VND 500. Currently, the highest price nationwide is VND 144,000/kg.
Thus, on 08/27/2024, domestic pepper prices are trading around VND 143,000 - 144,000/kg.
