People discovered and handed over 3 pig-tailed macaques

(VAN) When 3 pig-tailed macaques were discovered, people handed them to Chu Mom Ray National Park (Kon Tum province) for caring and preserving rare genes.

On March 16, the Center for Biodiversity Conservation and Ecotourism (belonging to Chu Mom Ray National Park) received 3 pig-tailed macaque individuals from the Kon Tum City Forest Ranger Department to take care of them.

Previously, people in village 6 (Dak Cam commune, Kon Tum city) discovered 3 pig-tailed macaques so they reported them to the Kon Tum city rangers. Among the 3 pig-tailed monkeys above, there are 2 female individuals and 1 male individual. At the time of handover, these individuals had a total weight of 7kg and were in normal health.

These are pig-tailed macaques belonging to Group IIB, on the list of endangered and rare forest animals that need care and conservation.

Mr. Dao Xuan Thuy, Director of Chu Mom Ray National Park, said that after being received, pig-tailed macaque individuals are managed and cared for by the Center for Biodiversity Conservation and Ecotourism. When conditions are met, procedures will be carried out to release them back into the natural environment to survive.
