2 rare macaques were brought to Hoang Lien National Park

(VAN) A household in Lao Cai city handed over two rare macaques to the authorities to take to Hoang Lien National Park for raising.

On the evening of October 23, Mr Trinh Xuan Hop (residing in group 2, Duyen Hai ward, Lao Cai City) handed over 2 endangered and rare macaques to the Forest Protection Department of Lao Cai province. This is a pig-tailed macaque, whose scientific name is (Macaca leonina), belonging to the endangered, precious and rare group IIB in the list of endangered, precious and rare forest animals in Vietnam.

Two pig-tailed macaques were handed over to the Hoang Lien Wildlife Rescue, Conservation and Development Center of Hoang Lien National Park for nurturing and care.

Previously, on June 15, the Bao Thang District Forest Ranger Department (Lao Cai) coordinated with the Hoang Lien Center for Animal Rescue, Conservation and Development to receive an individual pig-tailed macaque. The individual weight about 4.6kg was voluntarily handed over by the people.
