Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee set the goal of the project to conserve and develop sarus cranes in Tram Chim National Park for the period 2022 - 2032 to restore and develop the red-crowned crane population by raising and releasing them back into the wild. During the period 2022 - 2032, the project's goal is to raise 100 cranes with at least 50 survivors. The released cranes can reproduce on their own, survive in the wild and live year-round in Tram Chim National Park.

Currently, infrastructure works serving the Sarus Crane Conservation and Rehabilitation Project are being accelerated by Tram Chim National Park. At the same time, they are coordinating with departments and branches to carry out tasks such as: adjusting "project" into "scheme", and organizing scientific seminars.

Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Thien said: The project to conserve and develop sarus cranes in Tram Chim National Park with the goal of restoring and developing the crane population by raising and releasing them back into the natural environment. Within the next 10 years, the released cranes will be able to reproduce and survive on their own in the wild.

The project has 4 main contents including: raising and releasing cranes at Tram Chim National Park; improving the crane's habitat; and building an organic agricultural production area around the garden. Promote and educate the people about the environment, develop sustainable livelihoods based on sarus cranes and organic agriculture, and mobilize the participation of local communities. The estimated total implementation cost is more than VND 76 billion. Of which, the cost of improving the habitat for cranes is nearly VND 13 billion, organic agricultural production cost is nearly VND 6 billion and promoting tourism cost is nearly VND 8 billion.
